This campground is an RV delight. The sites are very large and pretty even ground. This is the campground you can arrive at later in the evening or night if you have to and will be ok to park your trailer. (Even a 30ft on the right site) Don’t let the electrical hookup distance fool you. It’s because the sites are so large, but when you park your trailer you can hook up with 50-75ft of electrical cord because you can pull your trailer into the site a fair distance. The sites, while close, still give a bit of privacy (much more than two rivers or pog) Comfort stations were very clean. The vault toilets were pretty decent as well.they didn’t stink and were pretty clean. This park has walking/hiking and biking trails right from the park. No need to drive anywhere. We camped at site 26 and found that it went really quiet by 9pm, which was amazing! No bright lights, no loud music or loud campers. Everyone was respectful and really friendly throughout the day. The park staff were diligent with rules and keeping the park clean. The beach was not good nor is the dog beach area (covered in goose crap) BUT the water was warm, clear and sand base, so decent for a cool off dip (though it is very small and bacteria levels were too high to swim ) canoeing/paddle boarding is blah as it’s so small. But other lakes are a quick drive. It’s a nice, quick walk/ bike to the two rivers store. Trails and visitor centre is a short drive. Fill/dump station is 5 mins up the road. Fill taps in the park smelled like rotten eggs. Highway noise can be heard but it’s low noise, not bad at all. Cell service is spotty. Site 48 and that area had good service (Bell and Rogers) Site 26 and that area had poor to no service (Bell and Rogers) I didn’t see a playground. 4 stars because of the poor water and lack of beach (lots of goose crap), poor dog beach area, no pet exercise area, poor tap water quality. But there is so much to do in and around the campground, your kids and pets will get plenty of exercise and have fun, then come back to your site tired and ready for a great fire and bed! Make sure to fill up just outside the west gate before hitching up and heading home. You will use a decent amount of gas/diesel driving to the trails, museums and visitors centre.(Gas price was comparable to every other gas station. It wasn’t significantly higher -1.54 at our time. Last week of August) Pictures are at Mew lake campground and the trails directly from...
Read moreCame here for a late September weekend with my husband and brother. We were site 71, very close proximity to the lake which was nice, and no campsites across the road from us, but the site was very wide open to the campground roadway spanning nearly half the perimeter of our site. Site was also very sandy, and we didn't love the fire pit location tucked into the side. No trees thick enough for a hammock. Also, road traffic can be heard from here and you can see highway 60 if you're standing on the beach. The lake is small, almost more of a large pond. Signage wasn't ideal, site numbers very small, and the park was a little difficult to navigate.|With all of that said, we had a pleasant stay. Despite the sites being fairly close together, we could not hear our neighbours on either side, and we managed to use our vehicles to block off the road for some privacy. We drove to the nearby Two Rivers Trail and parked there for a lovely, relatively easy hike. Husband also enjoyed a sunset canoe paddle - and the sunset reflected onto the lake was gorgeous. A water tap was right beside our site, and the pit toilets were reasonably well maintained and just a 1-2 min walk from site. We had gorgeous weather, and the leaves on the trees were nearly at peak but mainly visible from the road, not as many colourful trees at the actual campground. The shower/washroom building required driving to. Maintenance there was ok, some toilets were clogged. Most of the sites we looked at when driving or walking were pretty close together and didn't look ideal. We had fun, but I don't think I would choose this...
Read moreI will repeat what has been said in previous reviews. This is the jewel of Hwy 60 corridor campgrounds in Algonquin Park. I made two trips here in the summer of 2021 and was thrilled with both. Between them, I tried out Raccoon Lake, which really demonstrated how great Mew is by comparison. ||I stayed in sites 89 and 92. Both were private, quiet and provided beautiful lake-front scenery. In my opinion, if you are car camping, the line up of sites 83-94 are the ones to snag. And set the alarm the morning you 5 month window opens, because they disappear quickly. There is only forest across the access road from these sites, they are a good distance from the busier RV sites and you are as far as you can be from the noise of the 60.||The rangers at the entrance are friendly and knowledgeable, the shower and bathroom facilities are clean and plentiful, and the general atmosphere in the campground is friendly and low-key. ||Mew is conveniently located a 5 minute drive from the Two Rivers store (good for ice, last-minute supplies and take-out food if that's your thing). It is also smack dab in the middle of the great Hwy 60 corridor interpretive hikes (Track and Tower is a favourite). ||I am getting ready to book again for summer 2022, and though I'm tempted to look elsewhere in the park, my experience at Mew Lake was so great, I am going to go right back...
