A girls trip, 4 of us, and we stayed at Bayside in late June and it really must be the best location to experience Old Town Yellowknife....we got to watch the floatplanes take off each day and that was exciting but also enjoyed solitude and splendid water views. We were there during summer solstice and experienced daylight at midnight which took some getting used to but we also participated in the Midnight classic golf tournament which was at midnight!. Very fun! and I Took that off the bucket list. I would imagine that this would be a prime spot for watching the northern lights int he winter. The rooms are comfortable and have everything you need, we had the 3 bedroom suite. John the Owner is always around to help with advice on site seeing when he is not tending his garden at midnight. we had amazing fresh trout courtesy of john and Larry. There are great restaurants and gallerys within walking distance but actually a really nice new restaurant right in the Bayside Inn is quite good. You should check out the oldest hardware store in Yellowknife just a few steps away...perhaps the oldest in all of NWT? fully stocked with winterwear, even in summer.! Also i recommend North Air to get to NWT since we got complimentary HOT...

You can't beat getting a steak dinner to go, picking it up a few steps away, and dining in your very own cabin watching the auroras dance outside your window). The location is perfect! Close enough to the main city and restaurants/ cafes so you always have places to go, but far enough away that it's very quiet, calm, and dark. The innkeeper, John, was so nice. He came to introduce himself and even came personally to let us know when the northern lights were out. Great Wifi, plenty of amenities, beautiful view at all times (not just when the aurora is out). I already miss it and can't...
