April 16, 2022 TO: Every Trophy Lake Trout Fisherman SUBJ: Trophy Lake Trout Fishing @ Plummer’s Great Bear Arctic Lodges I have been a trophy Lake Trout fisherman for the last 35 years, and I believe I have fished at least 8 of the most highly recognized trophy Lake Trout lakes/resorts throughout all of Canada. At these resorts, I had caught at least 20-25 trophy lake trout that weighed from 20 to 28 pounds, and my largest lake trout was 33 pounds. I had always heard that the largest trophy lake trout are caught at Great Bear Lake in the NW Territories of Canada. Therefore, approximately 9 years ago, my fishing partner and I made our first reservation to stay at Plummer’s Arctic Lodges on Great Bear Lake. For the first 5 years, we fished out of Plummer’s main lodge, and sometimes I would fish for 2 weeks. We would routinely on each trip catch trophy lake trout that weighed from 20 to 35 pounds, with my largest lake trout being 38 pounds. However, on one of my last trips at the main lodge, I observed my fishing partner catch a monster 60 pound lake trout, which only confirmed how great trophy lake trout fishing was at Plummer’s Arctic Lodges on Great Bear Lake. One of my previous trophy lake trout fishing guides informed me he was converting to guiding at Plummer’s on Great Bear Lake because his objective was to catch a lake trout to be 50 pounds or larger. After several years guiding out of the main lodge, he informed me he was going to guide at Plummer’s Trophy Lodge, which is located approximately 100 miles due west of the main lodge. For years, he guided many fisherman to routinely catch numerous 35-40 pound lake trout, and he finally guided a fisherman that caught a lake trout that weighed 51 pounds. At this point he encouraged me to have him guide me out of Plummer’s Trophy Lodge, which I graciously accepted. For the last 3-4 years that Plummer’s was open,, my fishing partner and I have fished at Plummer’s Trophy Lodge, and the fishing has been fantastic. Each year we would each catch trophy lake trout that ranged in size from 20 to 48 pounds, and my largest trophy lake trout was 52 pounds. During our last trip, my partner caught a 41 and 49, while I caught at least 18 trophies, and my largest were 43 and 48 pound trout. When I caught my 48 pound trout, a much larger trout was following just inches below my fish, which my guide estimated to be at least 60 pounds. As some experienced trophy guides will say, “It is very common for monster lake trout to swim in pairs”. The amenities at the main lodge, and at Trophy Lodge, are well beyond your highest expectations, with great food, fine liquor services, fantastic trophy trout fishing, in addition to great fishing guides. I am now 79 with only 2 obligations, pay my taxes and make a one week fishing reservation at Plummer’s Arctic Lodges on Great Bear Lake. Tom W., Minneapolis, MN.

Just got back from a 3 day trip to Great Slave Lake with my Dad at Plummers. We could not have been happier. Our guide Tristian (Frenchie) was amazing, he taught us some new techniques and was shoulder deep in the water giving it his all to help land the 32.5 lbs monster Lake Trout I caught. We caught 130 fish over 3 days and had 4 over 20 lbs. The food was incredible, especially the shore lunches and the staff were amazing including Whitney who bartends and does about 20 other jobs around the camp. Thanks Plummers, the memories made on this trip will last a lifetime.

I had the opportunity to fish at Plummer's Great Bear Lake and Tree River. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Our guide Craig got us on a 63 fish day ranging from 14 lbs to 41 lbs at Great Bear and I scored a 14, 17, 20 and 22 artic char up at Tree River. To be fair we also had a 4 fish day. That's fishing. Chuck was all over the details. We had a great group of guests which made evenings at the bar fun. Highly recommend this group for an Artic experience.

I expected to catch some fish on a fishing trip but never in my wildest dreams did I expect to catch as many (or as large) as we did. And who would have thought that hanging out in a boat for almost 9 hours each day would be as much fun as it was! Eddie (our guide) was fantastic - from suggesting fishing spots (check out Taco Ridge) to whipping up a fabulous shore lunch to his general knowledge of fishing and Great Slave... we were in great hands. The staff at the Lodge always went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of - from amenities to housekeeping to food and hydration... they were always helpful and always smiling. There's something pretty magical about this place and Plummer's has certainly bottled it to perfection. Can't...

The experience you have at Plummer’s Arctic lodges and their team is nothing but exceptional. We visited plummer’s in 2019 and for the second time in 2021. Both times our experience was outstanding with all the restrictions with COVID, plummers was able to accommodate all safety protocols and ensure that all their guests have an amazing time. Alex, our guide is extremely knowledgeable and can ensure you that you catch big fish and enjoy every moment of the trip.

With all that is going on with life and restrictions in our country. I would highly recommend you take some time and visit Plummers. Their lodge and the Great bear lake is breath taking and ensures pure serenity. The fishing is none like you’ve experienced any where and shore lunch is out...
