Hotel Cumbres de Atacama — Hotel in Copiapó

We spent 3 nights at hotel Cumbres for our San Pedro visit. Check in was smooth and front desk staff is friendly and helpful. Most of them spoke English. This hotel is about 5-10 minutes drive from the town. They have free shuttle going every 40 minutes to town. You will need to book the shuttle at least 15 minutes prior. Hotel rooms are huge with desert feel. Beds are comfortable and bigger than king bed. Bathrooms are with double sink and good size. Bathrooms has extra feature of outdoor shower which was nice. Shower pressure was low. Wifi was only available in the lobby and by the pool which was inconvenient. Hotel lobby is nice and inviting. Lobby bar is really nice. Hotel has one bigger and 2 small pools but the water was too cold to swim. There are 2 hot tubs with warm water which we used one day. We didn’t do all inclusive as we had tours planned for all three days and wouldn’t have used the services. We booked our tours from the town and cost us about 50000 Pesos. We weren’t able to have breakfast even for one day during our stay as two days we had early tours and third day we had to leave 4 hours early for our 9.45 flight. Hotel provides bagged lunch which was good to have. We did Astronomy tour at the hotel as it made sense not to go with other tours for 2-4 hours at night when you can do this at the hotel in an hour. We had one dinner at the hotel which was barbecue night. Food was not quality food. Chicken was chewy, ribs had no meat, steaks were also just ok. We didn’t enjoy it. We really liked the expresso coffee machine to have a drink before the tours. I had initially tried to book the hotel through their reservation which was more pricey and difficult to communicate. Antes que nada me gustaría destacar la amabilidad de todo el personal, muy especialmente Sebastian, en la recepción, siempre atento a satisfacer todas nuestras necesidades y Andrea que nos trasladaba al pueblo. |El hotel es hermoso, con varios ambientes comunes, muy amplios, bien decorados, integrado al entorno de Atacama. Las habitaciones son muy cómodas, con mucho espacio de guardado, con una terracita, baño espacioso con toallas de calidad suprema. La limpieza de la habitación, así como de los espacios comunes, muy buena. |Tuvimos reposición diaria de botellas de agua en el frigobar(cortesía del hotel), con excepción de algunos días, pero hay dispensers en la recepción para disponer del agua necesaria. |El desayuno es muy completo y variado. Incluso tiene un sector sin gluten en el que, con los cuidados necesarios, podrían sumar algunos de los alimentos del sector general. |Lamentablemente debo corroborar que, tal como escribieron varias personas antes que yo, la zona de la pileta está muy lejos del estándar del resto del hotel. Está muy descuidada la pintura, las tablas de madera del borde de la pileta con astillas, ni la ducha ni los hidromasajes funcionan… En fin, es una pena que se haya dejado caer en ese estado una zona que está diseñada para el disfrute, en un entorno bellísimo. |El hotel se encuentra bastante alejado del centro de San Pedro, pero el servicio de traslado desde y hacia el hotel fue muy eficiente durante nuestra estadía. Es una pena que recién comience a las 13 horas y termine a las 22, lo que hace imprescindible volver del pueblo antes de esa hora. |La segunda noche, después de haber cenado y firmado la cuenta con el número de nuestra habitación un empleado se apersonó a la habitación queriendo cobrarnos, cuando mi esposo ya estaba en la cama a punto de dormir y no se quería ir sin tener en cuenta que ya habíamos dejado nuestra tarjeta como garantía en la recepción. We used the hotel as our stop over in the way to Ojos del Salado, travelling with a lot of mountaineering equipment. The rooms were very comfortable and cozy and the personnel were great on customer service.
