In a world where solo travellers are often penalised for having to stay in double rooms, it was a relief to get a genuinely single room. The staircases and hallway are somewhat shabby, not helping with first impressions, but there is nothing wrong with the cleanliness of the rooms themselves. On the minus side, there is a certain amount of street noise---even in my local London Borough of Lambeth the dustmen (trash men) don't come round at 2 a.m.! However the good value of the hotel makes up for the negatives. And why stay in Iquique?---well, the city is trying hard to put on a good image, with an attractive central plaza and some lively restaurants. There are some nice beaches nearby and it's a good base for visiting the Atacama---the ghost towns of Santa Laura and Humberstone in particular. Finally, the climate is brilliant; Iquique lies in one of the driest regions on the planet but even in summer the average maximum temperature is a very comfortable 27...
Read moreThis is the perfect place to stay at when in Iquique...I spent four nights here in May of this year 2025...It was very enjoyable....My room was reasonably large,clean and serviced daily...Breakfast each morning was top class....Location was perfect-a short walk to the main square Plaza Prat....The staff really made my stay enjoyable...I want to mention Carola,Alicia,Ernan and Melinka...They did everything they could to make me feel welcome even to the point of booking a taxi to take me to the bus station when I was leaving....This place is definitely worth returning to....Top...
Read moreThis is the only stop in Chile so I don't have any thing to compare it with here; however compared to the two places I stayed in Buenos Aires and Salta it is expensive and very basic. The breakfast is also basic - instant coffee, sweetened juice and bread. Eggs cost extra. The room is very small and a bit smelly. For the price we're paying I expect a lot more....
