Something going on here.. stayed there for 5 days, and yes, the 2.5 day power outage during the heat wave was not their fault. But their lousy response to it was! It is obvious, this was at one time, a nice high-end property, but the lack of upkeep and attention to guests' needs demonstrates that management has lost interest , or is planning on selling.. or something. The power was out due to heat and perhaps cut power lines.. who knows. And the WiFi was out for over 3 days (though other properties had service!). Management basically left us in the dark... you could wander out of your room and fetch candles if you like, but given the poor condition of the property, I was unsure if my card key would unlock the door with out power! The 1st room I had was untenable because the AC did not work, (way too hot!) and the second room was more shaded, but had no AC at all!||And unlike this listing detail, there is no bar or restaurant. There is a daily breakfast, that is ample.. (real coffee, great fruits), but the rest ...cold cuts, kuchen etc are budget quality. And the eggs are very Chilean-style (meaning super-soupy)||I was always waiting on the staff to help with minor things (unlock a storage shed for bikes) and the night in the 94 degree heat that I found my bed made up with a heavy winter comforter (and NOT the top sheet that I had begged for the night before).. I lost it. ||||And, if I still have not convinced you to go somewhere else, you better...
Read moreThe bad: We booked through despegar.com, on our reservation it showed pictures of a full kitchen. When we arrived we found out that they have removed the stove. Upon request they provided us with a microwave and some plates/silverware. The room still had a fridge and a sink. They do have a restaurant but they only open for lunch (february 2017). The hotel is 15 blocks away from the nearest restaurant so if you don't have a car and have children it is kind of a drag. Breakfast was just ok (coffee/te, bread, jellies, fruit, cereal, few pastries). Upon request you can get scrambled eggs (not advertized). Internet is spotty. The TV has 20 channels (they have the most basic direct TV package)||||Now the good things: people are very nice and helpfull. The accommodations are in good shape. Great amenities: indoor pool, sauna, outdoor pool, direct access to the beach. The rooms are clean...
Read moreWe stayed five nights at the hotel and really enjoyed our experience. Overall, it is quite nice but a few drawbacks are important to know about before booking.||Strengths:|| 1) Very comfortable beds.|| 2) Spacious rooms.|| 3) Delicious breakfasts.|| 4) Nice views of the lake.|| 5) Good service and polite staff.|| 6) Exceptional value.||Drawbacks:|| 1) No air-conditioning - can be very stuffy and warm in room at night.|| 2) Staff speaks limited English, which can create challenges if an issue arises.|| 3) Long walk to town (12-15 minutes). Mostly we enjoyed that but a couple evenings after dinner the walk was longer than we wanted.|| 4) A neighbor's dog barked noisily two of the nights.||We recommend the place but believe potential guests should be aware of a few concerns before...
