My husband and I were flying from Quito to Torres del Paine Park and it was a very long overnight trip with three flights. We were planning on doing a lot of hiking for a week and decided to spend a night in Puerto Natales to rest up before going to the park which was a two hour drive away. Our biggest concern was finding somewhere with transportation from the airport and Applegren House had that included, so we booked it.||We really had no expectations and we were truly blown away.||Heliodoro, the owner picked us up and we immediately connected with him. Such an interesting, friendly and kind man. He is incredibly helpful and wants you to have a great stay and we did! The hotel is beautifully decorated with lots of art work he and his wife Lule have gotten from their travels around the world...it's like a wonderful museum!||||We had the suite and it was such a lovely, spacious and spotlessly clean room :)||The views were amazing...the ocean and snow capped mountains..WOW ..with a window seat to relax and take it all in.||||He had several suggestions for lunch and arranged to have a taxi take us and bring us back from the town center which is a five minute ride away. The lunch was fantastic! The best ceviche I've ever had and I've had a lot of great ceviche :)||||After exploring the town plaza and beach we came back and crashed in super comfortable beds. My husband woke me up as he had found our home town Chief's game on TV at the ends of the earth with perfect reception.||||Breakfast was also amazing ..the entire table was full of food for the two of us and it was delicious. .a hot breakfast with lots of healthy options. There was no way we could finish everything although we tried :)||||This is the place to stay in Puerto Natales! I highly highly recommend it. You will love it and love how Heliodoro, Lule and their staff take such great care of you. You'll want to return too and definitely book for more...
Read moreI took the perfect review record with a grain of salt, given the small sample size. But after staying three nights at Appelgren House, the score seems understated. The minimalist hotel exterior conceals a wealth of treasures within. Artwork and artifacts from the proprietors' very extensive world travels are tastefully arrayed on the hotel's walls, ceilings, and floors. The place is less a boutique hotel than a museum. Better yet, owner Heliodoro promptly and thoroughly dispelled our confusion about how to best access the Torres park and area surrounding El Calafate. Clearly invested in making sure we had a good time, with charm, wit, and exemplary taste, he set out an itinerary, made reservations, and even pulled strings for us. This included steering us to great restaurants and even particular dishes on the menu (before we left for Buenos Aires, he made us a list of places to eat - all have been wonderful). Every suggestion panned out beautifully. The value of a person who can help you get the most out of a substantial investment in traveling to the extreme other side of the world can hardly be overstated. I recommend Appelgren House and Heliodoro...
Read moreWe had the good fortune to stay at Applegren house for two nights. We had traveled a long weary way - it was reassuring and such s relief to be met with the warmest of welcomes by Heliodoro. Having traveled extensively himself, he knows just what a weary traveler needs. Applegren house is at once comfortable, inviting, quiet and beautifully appointed with treasures from his travels. Go with any recommendations for activities and places to eat - Heliodoro is an expert on this! He made arrangements for our rental car which met us at the airport. This was especially helpful. We dined one night with Heliodoro at Applegren house. Dinner was beautifully prepared, beautifully served and as delicious as it looked. This included a cocktail hour with a variety of tasty appetizers…. AND engaging, lively and interesting conversation with Heliodoro.
Take to heart the other five star reviews that are more eloquent than I. They are spot on!
We highly recommend Applegren House for beautiful, comfortable, quiet, (these are superlative) lodging with a warm hearted, accommodating and...
