When we arrived at the property there was no one to check us in, but someone working there gave us the keys to our room and said to come back in an hour. We came back and the office was closed, so we never officially checked in. So there is no 24 hour check in desk like they have listed. The room was extremely hot during the day even though the rest of the hostel wasn’t. There were no fans to help with this situation. Also it was SO LOUD. During the day you could hear every conversation, music playing, people walking, etc. At night, packs of dogs outside howl nonstop so loudly that you can’t sleep. You can hear every car, every person walking by, every conversation, etc. I did not get one full night of sleep here and woke up at about 6-7 every morning because of the dogs. Also, our bathroom had a window to the common space in the shower that made us a bit uncomfortable that people could see us showering and hear everything in the bathroom. There is also no hot water and the showers were very cold. The room was never serviced, and we never even got new towels. The sheets didn’t smell like they were cleaned before our stay. The kitchen was full of flies and there were only 4 burners and that was it. No oven, microwave, electric kettle. The fridge was small and full of food that it was hard to find space. The breakfast option was confusing so we just ate in town for cheaper than they would’ve charged us anyway. The common areas are clean inside, but the outside area is full of junk. They could definitely clean up the outside and get rid of a lot of garbage. Online it says they offer a bunch of amenities that don’t seem to be true. I saw no bikes for rent, and definitely no tours or massages or anything. The WiFi was decent but not great- the free Chilean Government WiFi in the Park was the best we found. Also the lodge is about a mile or more away from town in a really beat up area that’s hard to find. I wouldn’t want to walk it at night. Luckily we had a car so we didn’t have to worry about it. The area around the hotel is very sketchy. It looks like a shanty town. The main town is much nicer with stores and real buildings. The area by the hostel was desolate and was a shock upon arrival. I walked once and the walk was hot and long and dry so be prepared with water and a hat. Again, there doesn’t appear to be bikes for rent, there is no room service, or most of the amenities listed on here and on...
Read moreEcoluna lodge is run by some very resourceful women. the have transformed an average plot on a dusty road into a haven. The atmosphere is congenial and easy going, the kitchen is shared and there is ample fridge space. three dogs and two cats run about and chill and jazzy sounds suffuse the building. Artistic endeavor abounds, mosaics, statues and lovely garden touches round out the atmosphere. Rooms are simple but artistic again, bathrooms are shared. Everything is very clean. the road into town takes about 20 min and is rather dusty, but the lower price for comparable spaces directly downtown makes up for that. to...
Read moreOne of the best places we stayed in a long long time. We had some problems with our car while we were there and the hosts Elisabeth and Adolfo are outstandingly helpful and unbelievable nice. The place is around 10 minutes away from the city centre, in a nice and quiet neighbourhood and the walk to the center is nice with great view of volcanos! We stayed here for 4 nights and would definitely...
