We had a most excellent time here! One of the biggest highlights of our trip. We had such wonderful hosts that made us feel like family that we are looking for ways to return! The food was great, our lodging was so fun and unique, the property is beautifully and serenely set near the river while you stare out at the picturesque mountains… I could go on and on. ||Our lodging was unique and very fun. We stayed in one of the carriages and had ample space (we carried 3 bags and many jackets and had no issue). The room is not fancy but it serves it’s purpose. We had clean sheets, space to sit and hang out in the kitchenette, hot water that works well whenever needed and a lovely fireplace that is a charm. The bathroom is a narrow space but that was fine for us. We also loved arriving each day from our outings to our place. You can sit on the bench outside and look at the mountains or even go hang out at any of the common areas.||The dining area was probably a major highlight for us. As in a home, it represents the heart and connection for their guests. I loved chatting over dinner and breakfast with folks from all around, connecting with Patrick, Karina and Cecilia about our adventures, have really lovely meals that nourished and filled, and feeling like you were part of a community. ||Highlights of our stay was building a fire for our room, the horses and pups that roam the area, the ease of getting to the park, etc. And of course the hosts, Patrick & Karina, make it where you never want to leave with their helpfulness, kindness and invaluable advice. They never make you feel like you’re an inconvenience. They also have a lovely team that equally holds their same values and culture of kindness. ||Finally, if you’re into fishing, Patrick is your expert. We had a lovely time fishing with him that is forever etched in my husband’s mind. His buds are desperately trying to figure out how to get down there as well after they saw his King Salmon photo. ||I could go on and on. It is a fantastic destination! I would happily stay here again and...
Read moreStay from July 16-19. 2023 Our stay of 4 days and 3 nights at Konkashken was absolutely amazing. Patrick and Karina are amazing hosts, always attentive to our needs and overall experience at the lodge. We were so grateful for their thoughtful attention to detail, and the overall property was a dream. Also, we had one phone call before scheduling our overall trip to Chile, and our conversation with Patrick was super informative and helpful in our process.
We spent our time here while exploring Torres del Paine National Park, which was just a 5-10minute drive to the entrance. The cabins were built in 2018 which such a careful thought to experiencing local materials and the majestic Rio Serrano. We arranged for a private trekking guide for Torres Base hike, and it was such an educational and inspiring journey with Cata and Camilo. Patrick also booked the Glacier Grey tour for us in advance, so we didn't have to fuss with the details and just enjoy the trip!
Our breakfast was included with our stay, and we also had their dinner service - delicious! Both Patrick and Karina are excellent Chefs! One of the worries we had before going was if we would be warm enough since we are traveling during winter season. The fireplace in each cabin is so warm, and the smell of firewood kept us so cozy throughout the night hours.
As a bonus we met their full crew pet friends - Carnaval, Mimi, Doo and Pulgas (neighbor dog). All so adorable and make the experience so loving. We would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a stay which is more immersed into nature and less touristic areas. Also, we avoided having to go to Puerto Natales for gas, a 1.5 hour drive, as Patrick was able to supply the gas we needed to return to town.
Hands down grateful we found this place and made new friends. Beautiful location, beautiful people,...
Read moreWe were a family of 3, including a 6 yo. I chose Konkashken Lodge b/c there were only two places open in early winter if you want to stay close to the park: Konkashken Lodge or Hotel Lago Grey. At Konkashken, you get a rustic experience by the Rio Serrano. At the hotel, you have access to fine dining and views of the glacier. I'm so happy that we chose Konkashken, b/c we felt completely immersed in the beauty of the park. It was magical to see the flamingos in the Rio Serrano with the morning fog laying over the water. I'll forever remember that.
Also Patrick was a wonderful host. I realized later how much more work it was for him that I chose to stay in one of the separate cabins as opposed to in one of the rooms in the main building. Our cabin had a wood furnace, and since we had no experience with it, Patrick had to replenish our wood supply frequently. The heat from the furnace was more than adequate to keep the room warm, and the surface was hot enough to cook off of. The weather was below freezing, so there were a few times where the water pipes froze, and Patrick would immediately go about fixing it. At the end of our stay, he offered us compensation, but I refused b/c i feel it's to be expected given the weather. And really, he did everything he could. Patrick even offered to let us stay in the main building and use it's facilities. But we were happy where we were.
I had hesitations visiting Torres del Paine in the winter; I was worried it would be too cold to enjoy. Now I'm happy that we did this and will cherish our memory of the park's pristine...
