As a Titanium Elite member, I was disappointed with the room upgrade. Despite checking in twice, the upgrade offered was minimal and did not reflect the level of recognition Marriott usually provides to its elite members.
This hotel is situated near the Sanlitun area, which is a convenient location. However, even though it is a convenient location it is not near the train station.
However, the property itself feels outdated and in need of refurbishment. Basic modern amenities such as USB charging ports are not available, which is quite disappointing for today’s travelers.
The check-in experience was unpleasant. A staff member named Cynthia handled our arrival, and unfortunately, she spoke extremely fast in Chinese, making it difficult for anyone to understand. Despite politely asking her to slow down multiple times, she continued in the same manner and responded with a visibly annoyed attitude, as if we were the problem. She refused to call a manager or another staff member when requested and failed to clearly explain any of the benefits or amenities, such as lounge access or breakfast hours.. until we repeatedly asked.
The situation was addressed the following morning by the manager, Diana, who offered a thorough explanation and a sincere apology. While her response was appreciated, it was clear that the staff member we encountered at check-in was not suited for a front desk role.
On a more positive note, the breakfast selection was quite good and the staff in the restaurant were courteous and professional.
Given the poor service during check-in and the lack of appreciation for loyalty members, I would not choose this hotel again. There are many better Marriott options in Beijing, such as the St. Regis, both JW Marriotts, and the Renaissance, all of which have provided much better...

I recently stayed at the Marriott Beijing Northeast with my wife, expecting a premium experience given the hotel's 5-star rating and the steep rates. Unfortunately, the reality was far from what we anticipated. The room décor felt like it was stuck in the 1980s, with outdated furniture and design. The carpets smelled unpleasantly dirty, and the air conditioning unit sounded like a jet plane taking off—making it nearly impossible to get a good night's sleep, not to mention that its effectiveness was comparable to its old age getting the room temperature down to only 24 degrees Celsius when on its highest setting.
To make matters worse, during our stay, the hotel introduced security checks due to some high-level government meeting. While I understand the need for security, the entire process made us feel insecure, uncomfortable and like second-class citizens. If such a significant event is happening, I wonder why the hotel even allows regular guests to stay—it felt like our experience was an afterthought.
Given these issues, this will be the last time we stay at this hotel, and probably the last time we choose a Marriott property. It's incredibly disappointing to see customer experience being sidelined in favor of...
Read moreThe shower. Six nozzles built into the wall on both sides, plus one more showerhead attached to the ceiling to rinse you like a car wash. If the floor spins, it will be a washing machine. I got from dirty to clean in 6 seconds. The other thing that left an impression was the breakfast. I have never seen such a wide selection of congee in a breakfast buffet. The range of dishes was not as much as Marriott in Shanghai I stayed, but it was still nevertheless a fulfilling morning meal. They have an interesting Chinese style pancake warp that I believe is a local delicacy. The room is well maintained and staying here, you can rest assured the room lives up to high expectations. The room I had was definitely not claustrophobic, something I experience in all Marriotts I have stayed. A nice glass table within, conducive if you need to do some work during your business trip. Around the hotel, well nothing immediate. Requires a short walk to the streets around for some eateries there and there. If you want a swim, they have an indoor pool. Not going to get that great outdoor experience and a tan if you ask me. It was quiet, the guest I seen were mainly on business. A very typical corporate styled hotel for the more serious. A good...
