XiZhao Temple Hotel — Hotel in Beijing

The trip lasted almost 3 weeks, so finding a budget-friendly yet good hotel was key. This one offers excellent value for money!The rooms are spacious (at least 20 m²), with AC and a fridge. Some minor repairs might be needed here and there—for example, the door frame fell off when we first opened our room door 😅—but staff came immediately to fix it. Otherwise, the hotel is well-maintained and clean: daily housekeeping (or upon request) includes fresh linens and towels. Toiletries, toilet paper, tea, coffee, and water are restocked daily. The staff is incredibly kind ❤—they respond to every request and do their best to help. Receptionists speak English. Free Wi-Fi covers the entire hotel, even reaching the parking lot—super handy if you forget to check something online or need to call a taxi. I also stayed in a wheelchair-accessible room—and it’s the first time in all my travels worldwide that I had zero complaints about accessibility! The furniture was easy to approach, the bathroom was spacious (combined but with enough room to maneuver), and grab bars were placed exactly where needed. During booking, I emailed the hotel to request this room, and I’m so grateful they accommodated me. It made my stay very comfortable. Location-wise: It’s in a residential area, but major attractions are just 15–30 minutes away by transport. Within walking distance, you’ll find the Red Theatre, an antique market, and a cool large park. Given that Beijing is enormous (6 times bigger than Moscow!), the location is perfect—you’ll need transport anyway. The neighborhood has all essentials: 7-Eleven, small grocery stores, pharmacies, tons of cafés (including a delicious noodle spot I’ll miss! 💔), and even McDonald’s/KFC for when you crave non-Chinese food. I don't know why Gate1 Travel (An American Company) would choose a hotel that has a concierge staff that do not speak English. I had a hard time communicating with staff for information and directions to local sites and tourist spots. Although, I give the staff my appreciation for putting a lot of effort to communicate. Nevertheless, it is still inadequate for our needs.||||The room was poorly lighted and the tub was constantly leaking water on the floor. Moreover, the vent was not functioning properly because of heavy dust build-up. The safe was also inadequate as it malfunctioned on us- we ended up stashing and locking up our valuables with our baggage. The room door was also malfunctioning as it intermittently did not electronically lock properly; we had to call the concierge to have maintenance to secure our room door. Some of my tour mates complained about poor air conditioning and dusty carpet flooring in their rooms. ||||The hotel did have some advantages. It was centrally located in a street with a convenient store, several restaurants, a couple of banks, and a few massage spas.
