The reason why I give this hotel 3 stars is the following. I understand that the hotel is under renovation and the noise was inevitable from very early in the morning, but the smell of cigarettes in the corridor on the third floor is what I can not understand. the rest was fine. Friendly staff, room in general clean and close to metro stations, attractions and shopping places. But I guess it will be better in one or two months, they were renewing the carpet. I would stay there again.||||The hotel has no water to drink, you need to buy it, no fridge or coffee machine in your room. The restaurants around are not very good but within 20 mins walk, you will be able to find the Shopping marketplace where there is a variety of restaurants and great meals for a good price.||||Taxis in Beijing, ||Taxis start from ¥13.00 RMB = $2.06 USD at - Plus ¥2.30/ Kilometer. ||(Recommended if you are lucky to stop one.) ||I don't really know how to stop a taxi in China, they seem like they don't like tourists. They stopped for Chinese people but never to us. In our whole trip, we only took one taxi and communicating with the taxi driver was a mission, even we used google translator. I recommend having a list of the address where you want to go written in Chinese before you try to talk to them. ||||Take the subway, super easy to travel in the subway, just avoid rush hours. ||There are a lot of cars that will offer you to take you to your destinations, these are not taxis but don't be afraid to take them. Just calculate the distance first on google maps and then negotiate a price with the driver.||||Decent Food: from ¥8 - ¥30 = $1.27 - $4.76 USD||||Places I recommend to go shopping: ||||1- Hongqiao Market ||Be smart and say no till they lower the price. they won't basically let you go without buying something. If they seem like they want to keep their prices, don't show them u are interested and turn around and leave, am sure they will give you a great deal before you leave. ||||2- Silk Street ||As I said before, keep your mind locked with prices and say no if they don't lower the price don't take it. Download a currency conversion app so you know how much you are paying. ||||3- Bairong World Trade Center||You won't find many people to negotiate prices here but there are a lot of stores, shoes, and clothes, but I was able to buy 3 great pairs of shoes for $90.||||I hope my review helps a lot of travelers. ||Our family of 4 went to Beijing for 10 days in March 2018 and with food, traveling in Beijing and shopping we spent around $2,000, maybe less a, not sure. I went to China with $5K Cash just in case, I don't like to run...

Read moreBooked this hotel because it's one of the cheaper hotels in Beijing that still gets decent reviews. ||It's clean, if minimal, which is most important. Wifi works sometimes and when it works it's fast and good but it will also be down quite a bit of the time.||Most of the staff speaks little to no English, so a translation app will be pretty vital if you need to communicate other than basic check in info. ||One night when I returned to my room, a few things had been visible moved, even though I hadn't requested room service and nothing had been cleaned. This freaked me out but when I went to speak to the front desk (using translation app because English was non-existent) she protested and argued and insisted everything was fine. Then, upon returning to the room, I dropped a mug and they charged me for it! Poor customer service and except for this weird incident the place seemed secure/safe enough. But I have my doubts because they didn't want to rectify my concerns.||Location is okay but not stellar: it's about a mile/10-15minute walk from the subway station/Temple of Heaven, and the hotel is attached to a restaurant which is good because there aren't too many other restaurants or bars in the area (a few but it's mostly residential area). Not many cabs either but the hotel was able to call one for me. It was close to a main bus station, which helps.||Nice there's tables outside to chill or smoke, a rarity in Beijing.||Overall, decent price for...
