Almost three months ago, I had the distinct privilege of staying in a truly exceptional hotel – the Wanda Vista Changsha. Yes, many hotels hold a 5-star rating by one or more of the online booking services, but this is one hotel, that truly merits the distinction.|| ||The difference begins immediately at your arrival. Upon arrival you are greeted by a friendly bellman in a cheerful unhurried manner, who takes your luggage, Entering the lobby you are graciously attended to by hotel staff, while you wait in que to check in, who politely answers any of your questions. The wait is just momentary.||||After checking in, the bellman escorts to you to your extremely well-appointed sumptuous accommodation and informs you of the amenities of the room while offering to help put away your clothes. ||||Within, minutes of my stay further contact with the staff began. My computer was reluctant to join the hotel’s Wi-Fi. I phoned guest services and a few moments later a: pleasant; smiling; professional looking woman; Ivy Li, showed up and explained the problem as she fixed it. It was a pleasant, courteous, and productive interaction.||||After checking my e-mail, I went to bed and slept very comfortably while attempting to recover from the jet lag. The following evening is when I really started to involuntarily challenge the staff. About 9:00 p.m. I went downstairs to the Café’, took some coffee and vanilla Hagen Das ice cream. Soon after, finishing the ice cream, I became violently ill and began to regurgitate. I ran to the men’s room. When I came out Ivy was waiting for me. She made logical statements why I should go to the hospital, which I refuted then I got sick again and went to the men’s room. Again, when I opened the doors Ivy was waiting for me. She asked me politely to reconsider going to the hospital. I was obstinate and refused. She offered to walk me to my room, and she gave me a few staff cards to call if I had any problems.||||The following day, mid-afternoon, after missing a couple of meals and not being seen in the lobby. There was a distinct knocking at my door. I was reticent and ashamed to answer it because I had been sick through the night and disorientated still thinking it was night. At the door was Camille Yang, Adam He, director of rooms, and the food and beverage manager James He, and Ivy Li. Camille said; “we care about you”. I could tell she was authentic by the look in her eyes with sincerity resonating in her voice. They immediately had my room cleaned, admonished me to call them if I needed anything at all, James He had some lite food and juices sent up. After showering and sleeping, more light food arrived for dinner with the staff checking in on me.||||||The next day, I went to the lobby for a late lunch, Rose Yang and Tony He looked after me with incredible diligence and care. Paying exact attention to what would be gentle on my stomach. Camille and Ivy stopped by indicating I was looking better and offering to do whatever they could. Ivy once again suggested I go to the hospital or doctor. This time I listened to Ivy LI and went to the Central City Hospital. I had a bacteria infection that was treatable by antibiotics. ||||A day or so later, I saw Ms. LI and asked if she still thought I should go to doctor. She indicated if I haven’t, I should most certainly go. I told her that I had gone after we talked at lunch, a smile covered her face. I stayed at the Wanda Vista Changsha some days after, while I attended to business matters. Every day it was warm smiles and splendid looking after me.||||During my stay, I had coffee a couple of times with Adam He, the Director of Rooms. I complimented him on his effective management as evidenced by selecting and managing such a marvelous staff. Individuals like these are the very heart and soul of a great hotel. ||||You can have a hotel with great location and outstanding facilities. Yet, without great management and people, like I just mentioned, you simply have just another hotel with location and facilities....
Read moreThis is a really excellent hotel ! I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. The location is great and within easy reach of all main sites and the underground system. The rooms are spacious and very clean. I had dinner twice in the Chinese restaurant on 5th floor and both times this was excellent.||However, the greatest asset of this hotel is definitely its staff. All staff members are all really efficient with a great attitude and also a nice smile. From the moment I entered until I left, it was right through an excellent experience with all the staff I came across, be it in reception, housekeeping, restaurant or concierge.||I have to especially mention Jack, who I believe is the Head Concierge. I asked him how can I buy tickets for the river night cruise, and he arranged everything for me. He called the boat cruise company, bought the tickets for me, sent me the QR code, sent me very detailed on how to arrive at the pier, and sent me messages later in the evening to see whether I had arrived and whether I took the boat. He also gave me his contact details and asked me to call him if I encounter any issues or need any translations. This service attitude of this person is unbelievable and I really want to thank him for all his great support.||I really recommend this hotel to whoever...
