Tibet Hotel Chengdu — Hotel in Chengdu

Unhappy with the hotel that had been arranged for us during our stay, we wandered around to find a new place to call our base for the remainder of our trip.

As soon as we walked into Tibet Hotel, I knew we would be very happy here.

The subtle smell of Tibetan incents immediately relaxed us and the complimentary sweet Tibetan tea served by the check-in desk melted all of our stress away. They spared no expense at this hotel as it is floor to ceiling in polished marble and dripping in chandeliers. The Tibetan theme is definitely visible throughout the hotel, but not in a gaudy way. The decorations are very elegant and there are even Tibetan shops located on the lobby floor where you can purchase souvenirs to bring home, or treat yourself to some Tibetan healing jewelry.

We walked up to the front desk and asked if we could see the available rooms. That’s when we met Jack Peng, Chinese name小彭. He was so gracious and swiftly made some calls. The next thing we knew, he was escorting us to view the rooms himself. Jack took special interest in getting to know us, inquiring about how our trip was thus far, and our impression of his hometown, Chengdu. Jack was so friendly and accommodating, given our short notice.

We were so impressed by Jack, we decided to stay in the Executive floor room. The perk of being on the executive floors 15 and 16 was that it included breakfast as well as use of their beautifully decorated library and tea room where we were served complimentary tea during open hours.

The room included a Western-style bed, i.e. mattress padded bed, refrigerator, TV, free- Wi-Fi, a work desk, and complimentary bottles of water. The bathroom was amazing as it offered a view of the Chengdu skyline, as well as having a vanity table, separate toilet and shower in addition to a large tub.

The breakfast spread was extensive! Wide selections of juices, Chinese noodles, stir-fry dishes, a hot noodle bar where you can create an unlimited combination of noodles. There were even a wide selection of European breads and pastries. Fresh fruits are always welcomed when you are on vacation and the breakfast buffet came through with rotating seasonal fruits every day.

We took advantage of the on-site spa twice during our stay. Here’s a pro tip; there’s a different spa menu in your room with discounted pricing for hotel guests. I would suggest you book the massages using the hotel spa menu as we saved so much money for the massages. We got the hot stone massage, black jade bath, as well as the Tianti massage. All were amazing and incomparable to any of the massages we’ve gotten at home. You really get a lot for your money here.

Jack would often check on us to make sure our stay was superb. I would definitely recommend you ask for Jack the next time you decide to stay at the Tibetan Hotel, and why wouldn’t you? It’s world class, and so is...

This hotel is superb. We were met in reception and presented with lovely scarves. The reception area is beautifully decorated and the staff were lovley. Our room was gorgeous, spotless, and really hi-tech. The bed was huge with crisp white sheets and duvets. All the blinds and curtains are electronic. We had a TV cabinet with a fridge underneath, which could be turned around so that you can watch the TV whilst taking a bath. Tea and coffee making facilities; hair dryer laundry service, even wine glasses available we had a bath as well as a shower and the shower was hot. The breakfast choices were the best we have had so far in China, nearly too much to choose from. We didn't have dinner at the hotel so I can't comment. Our only small complaint would be that the coffee cups weren't cleaned after we used them on the first day. I highly recommend this...

My mother and I visited Chengdu in April 2024, and were made to stay at Tibet Hotel by our travel agency. We instantly felt at home upon our arrival there - our room was spacious enough, the twin beds enabled us to sleep well, and the breakfast buffet had many food options. Moreover, the housekeeping service was fast, and it would only take the staff a few minutes to deliver supplies such as water, tissue paper etc. The hotel is within walking distance to convenience stores, malls, and other shops. The only room for improvement that I can think of so far is the staff’s ability to communicate in English. Some know how to speak the language while most don’t, which can be difficult for foreign guests like me.
