Park Resort — Hotel in Guilin

Yangshuo Park Resort Hotel was booked by our agency and after a two-day stay, I can safely say that it was not a wise choice. The hotel, as the name suggests, is located inside the Yangshuo Park. Considering other hotel options in the city, many of which offer great views of the Li or the Dragon River, the location is nothing worthwhile. It is about 15 minutes’ walk from the West Street. If you do not have your own vehicle with you all the time, be prepared to walk at least 10 minutes to the nearest restaurant, sometimes in the rain, as found out one night. ||One expects front office staff at a star category resort to know some English but every time I needed to interact with them the only response I received was a shrug accompanied by ‘No English’. They have a restaurant but the day we checked-in, we arrived for lunch only to be told (after much difficulty) that it opens only for breakfast. As with many of the Chinese hotels, do not expect the bottle of drinking water in your room to be complimentary. On the contrary, they are priced about five times the price they are available at the departmental shop on the ground floor. You will also be asked to deposit about 100 RMB per day as security money, so be prepared. ||The hotel has a tiny swimming pool which was without any water during our stay. There were some gym equipment but we did not see anybody using them. There is almost no wi-fi signal available but they did provide us with a router in the room. This hotel is a very small one, but it's okay for a short stay. Room keys are those magnetic cards. There is a swimming pool and 3 pieces of gym equipment. There is also a restaurant but it only serves Chinese food. The lobby is a really dim place, except for the sunlight coming from the main door. There isn't a sign that says lobby, What is so you have to figure that out on your own. Some rooms are quite large, and some can be quite small. I stayed in the VIP Block, so it might be different from when your room when you go. It's not a really big place; just a few blocks. The rooms are quite clean, with a tv and a proper shower. It is actually quite nice, and looks like a hotel room in a small hotel in Europe. The toilet is really clean, but one flaw is that the toilet can NOT flush toilet paper, so beware. Our room'a shower only had one door, so it was quite annoying. The hotel is a short walk away from the main streets like the famous West Street.
