The hotel has an incredible location. In front of you is the beautiful West Lake, with so many beautiful and classic (to my eye) Chinese scenes. Tranquil, even as it bustles with walkers. ||The hotel is situated on a long stretch of lake front with its own walkway on the lake. Views from the restaurant and meeting rooms are idyllic. The grounds are pretty and well kept. ||Breakfast is included and I was a little concerned about options as many have said not much for westerners. Well, granted were are in China, and there were lots of choices for Chinese people, but the group I traveled with enjoyed many of those options including dim sum and tasty soup. I stuck more to breakfast foods, but I had many options. Breads (and toaster) and pastries, lots of choice for fruits, coffees, teas and juices, fresh cooked foods including eggs and omelettes. It was interesting and satisfying. ||Our group was in the annex on the left of the main building (looking at the lake). My room 3206 was slightly larger than others in our group more to the middle on the third floor. The service in the hotel is outstanding and the people smiling and helpful. ||The room is well appointed and on arrival they brought a lovely cup of tea. Before bedtime someone comes and lays out a mat by your bed and puts slippers out for your use – a nice touch. The bed and sheets/cover were comfortable. Great reading lamps and good night side tables. Air conditioning very effective in 35 C degree day time highs and with a 42 C degree humidex reading. Room has beautiful marble floors and counters, some carpet in the bed space. Shower was very good, nice size, rainfall shower head and hand held, good water pressure and temperature. The toilet was a marvel of technology. All the instructions were in Chinese, but they set it up to be heated and there was a bidet function (easy enough to figure out). Also, at night I used the lighted toilet as a night light, ha ha. There is a safe in the closet along with reasonable storage. There was a sofa, desk and task chair. TV was reasonable and there were 2 English channels. Didn’t use the internet. ||I attended meetings at the hotel and the service was great, coffee breaks were beautiful and tasty, banquet dinner was very good. Meeting rooms were comfortable and well appointed.||The lobby is beautiful and was a nice place to share a beverage. ||If I return to Hangzhou, I can’t imagine...

Read moreDahua Boutique Hotel "大華饭店".||Room Condition:|Stayed in Rm1406, meaning Blk 1, Level 4, "their highest level". It's a decent room. Do not have direct view of the lake, as blocked by building and trees. If you want to have a balcony, opt for 1402. Every alternate room have a balcony. My friend stayed in 1411, it have a bath tub "different interior from the rest of the room we mention" and a balcony view but it's at the opposite side, facing the other hotel view.||- The safe in my room is faulty so I couldn't keep my important stuff. |- The showering spray is weak, as compared to my friend's room. |It would be good, if the house keeping or hotel staff did a check so the next stayer will have a better experience. ||Lobby staff:|Friendly and approachable. Will greet and bow to you when you arrive or leave the hotel. Their staff do not understand English well, I had help interpret few times, as the staff having difficulty with the westerners.||Sightseeing:|There is a sightseeing boat around the lake every morning 9am with introduction in Mandarin. It's free for the hotel stayer, but you must book with the hotel counter, subject to availability. ||Hotel breakfast is good, many variety. I like their soya bean drink. Again the restaurant have a window view of the lake, where you can have your breakfast while watching people exercising, walking. Otherwise, there is a hugh TV, where you can watch their local news while enjoying your meal. ||Location:|Situated next to the lake, you can have a stroll by the lake at night after dinner, take some pictures - you don't need to think of places to go, it's good enough. And you be surprised there are still many people around. At 西湖天地There are cafe like Starbucks, Costa coffee and bars for you go as well. And for food, you can go to Grandma's House "chinese restaurant", very nice food. ||View:|If you are expecting a direct view of the lake from your room, you be disappointed as that is not the case.
