I stayed here with colleagues on my way to a work engagement in both April and May this year, and again in June with my husband who came to China for the first time. On all occasions the hotel staff were helpful and the rooms were clean. The key attraction of this hotel however is that it is literally a 100 metres from West Lake, and 2 blocks from the Longxiangqiao subway exit. It is also right next door to one of the best dumpling restaurants in Hangzhou, Zhiweiguan. Don't be put off by the dark entrance, barn like interior or bright melamine crockery of this restaurant; the food is excellent, particularly the shanghai soup dumplings. If you speak no mandarin, take a pen and paper and head for the lines of people at the cashier. Hand over your order written as numbers eg A4 x 3, and pay. Then you'll be shown which lines to stand in to pick up the various parts of your order. Sounds complex but it's worth it. The takeaway section out the front sells pork buns and an amazing vege bun, but they often sell out by lunchtime on weekends. Back to the hotel: not all staff speak English, but enough do to ensure that check in and out went smoothly even for those with not a word of Mandarin. Just take note that we couldn't pay American Express and that it is wise to keep your checkin receipt as you may need to produce it at checkout. The only other difficulty is that the entrance to this hotel is in a short dog-leg shaped alley; again, don't be put off, as that is why the place is so cheap for its...
Read moreMr Lee greeted us with warm welcome and show us to our room as me and my son. Our room are behind the main building I am impressed on the toiletries and hair dryer provided by the hotel. It was a plus point for me.Location is near to west lake and metro station to hangzhou railway station. Pros: food / family mart / shopping malls / pop up stalls and massage spa are near to hotelStaffs are all ready to assist and help out with any inquiry of ours. We originally not able to use the washing machine due to no China line. Mr Lee came and taught us to connect to the hotel wifi and use the wifi to operate the washing machinesTransportation : is easy to arrange with the help over counter. Despite a few hiccups they manage to resolved the issue for us.Con: noise especially if your room is at 2nd floor where people will gather downstairs to talk. Can hear it loud and clear. Should the washing machine can be free for hotel use or more friendly to foreign tourist will be a bonus. Our Jing room first night “flood” after a shower, next day after feedback to counter and they gotten it fixed with Mr Lee personally to ensure us that the shower room won’t have the ponding issue again.Overall, it was a pleasant stay with a good walk by the westlake be it day /...
Read moreThis hotel is very close to West Lake, easy to walk out and get to the walkway around the lake. It's also walking distance to a huge number of restaurants, shops, cafes, and teahouses. It's a little less expensive than the bigger, western branded hotels. It does not have a gym or swimming pool, but all I wanted was a nice, safe hotel room. RenHe delivers with a comfortable bed, a great selection of teas (complimentary) in the room, and a minibar. ||||I did think it was odd that a Chinese luxury hotel open to foreigners did not have anyone at the front desk who could speak English. I was able to check in with no problem (I had a reservation already), but for my 3 day stay, if I needed to ask a question someone from the desk would call over one of the bellhops who spoke a very small amount of English, but enough to communicate. That was odd to me, usually nice hotels have at least one person in registration who speaks English well. Otherwise the room was great, and the location...
