Pros:
Beautiful setting, nestled between Lantau Peak (鳳凰山) and Nei Lak Shan (彌勒山). It is open (so bring a tarp for sunny days), and since it is located at the pass between these two hills, there is a constant fresh breeze.
Each pen on the campsite is equipped with stone benches ideal for cooking with gas cookers (note: no coal pits), as well as a table with two wooden benches (ideal for 4).
A few minutes walk to the start of the ascent to Lantau Peak from Wisdom Path). A short, downhill stroll to the village of Tei Tong Tsai).
Easy access to excellent vantage points for taking photos of both sunrise as well as sunset (~8-10 minutes of hiking required).
Far from any main roads, so no traffic noise.
Equipped with drains for pouring out extra water from cooking, plus almost all pens have a bin for depositing waste+recyclables.
Cons:
Popular spot, so expect to share your pen (if there is room) with other campers. Only a con if you are expecting solitude, or prefer to have the whole pen to yourself, but it's good to share, plus some extra company doesn't always hurt.
This is the flip-side to the fourth pro. Long-ish walk from bus stop at Ngong Ping Village. I've seen people taking taxis (or driving private vehicles) all the way up to the campsite, so it's possible, but if you get there by bus with all your gear and belongings, then expect to lug all of it on foot for at least 12-15 minutes.
No shade, so on a clear day, your tent will be under direct sunlight.
No place to light a bonfire, if that's your thing.
Ground is rocky, as opposed to just dirt, so you will need to think about the precise location on which to pitch your tent, especially if you don't use an inflatable...
