As being compared the quality service while my last stay years ago, it is now deteriorated.
While my recent stay, there was a leakage from the roof top onto the lobby floor. It is very sarcastic of the Hotel making numbers of buckets to contain rain water in the lobby for several days! It hardly comes across in any hotel? The lobby floor was in the wide area of puddle and wet.
Nevertheless, there was again of water drops leaked from the ceciling in one of the restaurants. It was amazing when the restaurant made several basins to receive the onflux of water drops .
This made diners uneasy as when time walking to and fro the food tables in the buffet time, they need escapes to avoid wet floor and the basins put along the walkway staircase. Or else, it will cause the fatal ~ to "kick the bucket"?
The hotel needs a refabrication and renovation!
Whole heartedly, I am sincerely to remind the Hotel for the "Fire Precaution". It is a must to avoid the lethal fire calamity! I did find a mainlander lady smoke when cooking in the communal kitchen. The cigarette butt was thrown no where! This may cause countless causalties in the closed enivromemt when caught fire as well as in the despite of precaution working in this issue.
You may agree with me to the shortage of workforce and under pressure of the "Front Desk" staff to fact of when ringed to the staff of the Front Desk, no one will pick up your calls when in need. The Front Desk staff members are all the times busy to entertain tenants lined up. I ringed the "Front Desk" in the every time span from dawn, morning, noon, afternoon, dusk to midnight... I was in vain few days. I have to go downstairs to talk to Front Desk for any need if required.
In the long stay of the Hotel, laundry is a necessary. However, it surprise you, only 2 out of 6 washing mahines remain in proper operation. The others are pended under maintenance nearly a month.
Don't just talke about negative of the Hotel that it may low down its good name in the hotel industry. It till has a good news to the gourmets.
The Hotel can provide you a wide varities of cuisines whereas the Italian, Thail & Vietanamese together with Chinese restaurants, a pub, a Taiwanese kitchen that have a good quality of food to fill your stomach but not the Dragon Inn.
Be fair, Riverside Regal situates next to the breathtaking Shing Mum River. It is a good walk on the promenade lurked you by the sunfall of the egg-yellow scenery till the Sun is immersed undrneath the horizontal line. It catches your unforgetable memory that you can share to your beloved ones.
The Riverside Regal is easily accessible by convenient transports ~ a several-number routes of buses, East Rail and Tun Mun Line MTR and the cross harbour buses. You can have a good chance to explore most of Hong Kong, to the Island, western and northern New...
Read moreI grew up near the hotel and knew it was getting worse by day, but booked anyways on a trip back to hk because I thought I would love the nostalgia brought by back by the Shing Mun river view, when I saw it on their website. Spoiler: some of those are computer images which look quite different from reality.
Turns out it was worse than the average hotel I expected: The carpet floor was damp and felt gross to put your feet on - I won’t be surprised if there’s mould all over the place once they tear off the carpet.
The toilet ventilation is subpar so the toilet would smell nasty at night; the lift broke on our first use and wouldn’t stop opening and closing; AC wouldn’t go lower than 23C despite attempts.
We got lucky to be allocated a river view room, but another lady at reception was complaining how she was facing another person’s window and could see them.
These are nitpicking to a certain extent. We could live with these flaws, given the price point. But the last straw that made me an avowed mud-slinger is their attitude towards complaints. We were woken up at 1am by the cigarette smoke that filled the room. There was no window we could open and opening the corridor door means more smoke would come in. When we called the reception, they went to the room but never called back to communicate what happened (they said the call doesn’t work, but maybe try knocking our doors?). Turns out the room opposite to us were smoking and opened the door to let the smoke out (what a jerk). The hotel said they would fine them only when we called them, and offered to switch our room, which took a full hour since we first called them. And we had to wake up at 7 for a flight next morning.
The next day when we went to the reception, the manager (25 May morning) refused to refund us, which is ridiculous since the smoking fine is 3x our room rate. They even told us to report to the police which is hilarious since the “crime” happened on their premise and they know it.
It’s not worth your time, health and frustration, even if you wanted to wake up to the Shing Mun river. The hotels nearby have similar price points and are probably much better. This hotel is trashed by years of negligence and...
Read moreWe reserved double room for 1 night with Regal Riverside Hotel 3 hours before our check-in at 9pm via Trip.com. ||||When we registered for check-in, the front desk staff had not mentioned the unavailability of our room at all. When we entered the assigned room, the room was a twin-bed room, which was not the room we reserved at all. Thus, we needed to go back to lobby again and asked for the room we reserved. It was unexpectedly the front desk staff rejected to provide the double room for us and said it was fully booked on that night. It was unreasonable that Trip.com was still providing for ordering on double-room, we had mentioned to the front desk staff while he asked us to reach Trip.com for details and it was none of their hotel responsibility. ||||With such poor attitude response, we took the room and reached Trip.com for a compensation on all inconvenience caused and extremely disappointing arrangement around 10:30pm. Trip.com had helped liaising with the hotel, while Trip.com was also unable to reach to the hotel representative to look into our situation. Since we already checked in and took the room with no choice so Trip.com had compensated for our loss. ||||We thought all the mess had been settled and called off the day. It was unreasonable that the hotel called us to our room at 1:30AM!! The staff asked and surprised that we should have requested for refunded and cancelled on the room, and why we still staying in their hotel. Can you imagine the staff calling guest at midnight for an issue settled 3 hours ago? Plus, I have never stayed a hotel would call guest at midnight to wake them up for their mistake!!!||||Originally, we have no plan to complain or leave bad review on this hotel. We just blacklist them and the Group. However, I have no idea why keep receiving review request from Regal Riverside Hotel. It seems they insist to hear our comment. ||||Hong Kong now suffers poor economy. I can imagine part of the reasons are these terrible hospitality and staffs damaging Hong Kong image. As a local, I am shame of them for providing such...
