great location, big, spacious rooms, very clean (with exception of horibly dirty carpets in the room). Older furniture didn't bother us at all. Lovely cleaning ladies and amazing restaurant staff and good variety and great overal breakfast. - carptets as mentioned before, in the corridor, these are fine, in both our rooms not really. My main issue was staff at he reception and room service. now, I have hight expectations, because this should be a 5* service and I felt like it wasn't at all. At our arrival, the receptionist spoke really good english and was very nice. I asked for help with a very valuable little item I forgot in my previous Hotel in Dali. the receptionist called the hotel in Dali, but informed me that there Is not enough time to send it to Kunming (we were staying there for 2 nights). Now, I know this is my problem but I would expect 5 star hotel to be able to deliver a smal package, which is 2 hours away by train. Finally, I had it delivered to Yangshuo, much further away....Other 2 receptionists I was in contact with spoke very little English, which is fine, but I would expect them to be a bit more proactive in using some translator app, which was no issue in other cheaper places. My question: which metro stop is the closest to the ancient city? answer: Nanping street is shopping center. question:Is there a bar in the hotel, where we could have a beer or some drinks? answer after some long explaining: in 4th floor, but it is very expensive (Pretty woman comes to my mind....) Not very helpful. now, when I got really angry was when I called room service, officialy available 10-23:00.22:48 I tried numerous time through their app, which gave me error while trying to pay. 22:52, I called by phone, to find a very well English speaking person, who told me without appology of any kind "it is too late" I was confused, so I ended the call, I looked at the room service menu to check time and of course, I was right. So I immediately called back, it was maybe 15 second later and guess what? nobody answered the phone anymore. How rude was this!!! Fun fact, I didn't want to order any food or even hot drinks, all I needed was one bottle of water And one bottle of tea. So I had to dress up again And go to buy it myself. I was back to the room before 23:00. Horrible customer service, certainly not 5 star And very...
Read moreWe arrived at this hotel late evening on 2 June on transit to Lijiang. Instead of single-use slippers, there were only two pairs of leather lookalike slippers in sealed thick plastic bags with notice on the package that said “NOT FOR A GIFT”...”RMB110”.... “IF OPEN THE PACKING SHALL BE REGARDED AS USED”. After looking around to confirm the lack of alternatives, we managed to cut open the bags and used the slippers. Next morning at 5.30am, we checked out and were asked to pay RMB220 for the two pairs of slippers we had used and left behind. The hotel staff even brought down the slippers for us to bring along. We had a flight to catch, registered our objection and left knowing that we would be back again in five days time and hope to resolve this then. The front desk staff handling this also admitted they had received similar complaints from other guests who had made the same mistake and on the ridiculously steep charges for a pair of leather lookalike bedroom slippers. ||We returned to the hotel on 7 June, again on transit to return to HK the next day. We raised the “slipper incident” and spoke to their manager-on-duty. She came back and reiterated that the room we stayed at had an amenities basket with single-use slippers included. We told her we had checked the room on 2 June and found none, and that it was actually an inconvenience for us to struggle to open the plastic packaging. Her only response was house keeping had pictures to prove we left the slippers in the room on 2 June; hotel policy requires single-use slippers be available in all rooms. She did not even once apologised for the situation, and through her reply, put the blame on us and insinuated we lied. ||We were very disappointed with the hotel for 1) charging RMB110 for a pair of bedroom slippers when providing such amenities is a common practice for more hotels are ; 2) not providing single-use slippers in the room we stayed in and; 3) didn’t even offer a simple apology. This short and transit stay has proven to be one of the most disappointing experiences we have ever had in China, and gave us no incentive to ever return to...
Read moreWe stayed for 4 nights after 10 days tour to Guizhou. We booked the executive level and it is definitely worth the extra cost. |The good: we appreciated the staff for being eager to please at check in, the executive lounge, the house keeping and the breakfast buffet. The room is spacious, comfortable, clean and has great amenities.|The hotel lobby is very pleasant and there are cleaning staff regularly keeping the public area clean and tidy. |Breakfast was good, there were plenty of choices. The dining room could use another coffee machine though. The machine was out of order for a short period of time during one morning.||The not so good: we specified a non smoking room in our reservation and reiterated the request during check in. Long and behold, the room smelled of cigarettes smoke when we entered. We were told the hotel is in the process of transitioning to non smoking rooms. The staff was apologetic and we were able to switch to the supposedly non smoking 34th floor. The room was fine but the hallway has lingering cigarette smoke. One day, we found cigarette butts by the elevator disposal bin on our floor. This was our biggest turn off. Obviously, the hotel management needs to figure out how to enforce the no smoking policy.||Location: it is catered more for domestic business than leisure travel. We took taxi a couple of times to visit places. Subway would have been a better choice because of the heavy traffic during the day.||Overall, it is a good hotel if you do not mind...
