The hotel allows normal check in at 14.00 hours and normal check out at 12.00 hours. Check in was smooth. I booked a Standard Twin room . For 3 nights for double occupancy, I paid INR 10988. Very reasonable as compared to the quality of room and facilities. Let us now move to the review of facilities and my experience ( Rating have been assigned in a Scale of 1 to 5 , 5 being highest):-||A. Location : Located at 98 Bejing Road South in Kunming Citi Centre, 850 feet from Train Station and 2 km from International Exhibition Centre.(Rating 4.5).||B. Room : The hotel has two seperate blocks. Business Building is larger with 23 floors and the smaller one Fashion Building has 6 floors. Our Standard Twin category room no. 2611 was located on 6th floor of the Fashion Building, the smaller of the two towers.  With 269 square feet, size of the room was moderate. The modern decored room have a large glass window. The room had two 51 inch standard queen sized bed, a writing desk , a wardrobe with safe, a luggage stool, refrigerator, coffee and tea making facilities . Bed was ok with standard linens with limited choice of pillow with different firmness. The room was clean and have amenities like tea/coffee making facility, safe deposit locker, a small wall mounted LED TV . 2 bottles of bottled water are provided and tea and coffee pouches replaced every day. Bathroom was of standard size , clean with curtained shower area and standard sanitary fittings. Toileteries like shampoo, bath gel were provided. Quality of toileteries is just basic. Room had good air conditioning.(Rating 4)||C. Facilities : The hotel has the essential facilities that you expect in a business hotel in this category. The lobby is large and bright and shopping on site and gift shop. Wifi is free for the guests inside room and wifi strength is good. There is fitness room, sauna, concierge service, meeting and banquet rooms. Breakfast is served at the 23rd Floor caFe of Business Building and can be ordered in the room. But there is no 24 hours in room dining facilities. (Rating 4)||D. Dining options: The hotel has wide dining options. 1.The Roof Top revolving restaurant located on 23rd floor of the Business Building, offers great 360° view of the city skyline and serves authentic oriental cuisine. You can have buffet dinner at CNY 158 pp. Hotel guests gets 20% discount. 2. caFe, the coffee shop offers buffet breakfast at CNY 50 per person and all day small eat options. 3. Shanghai Restaurant located in the 2nd floor offers local cuisine. 4. Lobby Lounge offers choice of Chinese Tea and small tit bits. 5. Momiji at Lobby level serves Japanese cuisine. (Rating 4.5).||E. Overall service : The staff are extremely friendly. Though the official check in time is 2 PM, I arrived at 8 in the morning but was allowed immediate check in without any extra charge. Very rare gesture which is highly appreciated. It is truly value for money and extremely convenient chouce to stay in Kunming be it leisure or business. However, the biggest problem is lack of English speaking staff, particularly at the restaurants. But this is general problem in Kunming due to low English speaking travellers to this city.(Rating 4.)|| I shall recommend at this price and also for the ambience and central location....
Read moreMy wife and I embarked on a great 24 day China Encounters private tour with Wendy Wu tours in June and July 2018. ||||It included a week in delightful Yunnan Province including Shangri-la, Lijiang and Dali with their quaint Old Towns and ending at Kunming. During the week we enjoyed visits to iconic attractions such as the Tiger Leaping Gorge, Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and the magnificent Stone Forest||outside Kunming. ||||Wendy Wu chose the Jinjiang Hotel as our accommodation in Kunming for a two night stay and we were not disappointed.||||The hotel is well located in the centre of the trade and business area of Kunming and close to the main railway station. It features 320 rooms and also boasts a number of restaurants. It has a pleasing foyer with efficient, friendly reception staff.||||Our room was large enough and clean and tidy with a comfortable bed, modest writing facilities and a comfortable arm chair with a matching cushioned foot rest which was a nice added feature. The bathroom had adequate facilities with a shower over a plunge bath. || ||The hotel staff provided two complimentary red apples and complimentary tubs of yoghurt for us on arrival at our room and there was a small vase of flowers on the occasional table. This was a nice touch. ||||We really enjoyed the breakfasts here on both mornings at the restaurant on the 25th floor of the hotel which is apparently a revolving restaurant, not working when we were there, with fine views of the city. There was a great range of breakfast foods to satisfy all tastes. A novelty at breakfast was their very efficient push button fruit juice station serving orange, blueberry, peach and grape juices. Yet another novelty was their push button yoghurt station. There was an egg chef on site to take orders for four types of breakfast eggs â fried, boiled, scrambled and omelette. Their breakfasts were fabulous â a most enjoyable experience. ||||On our first night we enjoyed a pleasant Chinese meal at the restaurant next door to the hotel. Not much English spoken here and the menu was in Chinese; however we were looked after by a most enterprising young waiter who translated our order from English to Chinese using an App on his phone. This ensured we received a meal that we could enjoy. ||||On our second night we were in one of the hotelâs Chinese Restaurants where we enjoyed our shared âAcross the Bridge Noodlesâ, which is a type of rice noodle soup from Yunnan Province served in a broth style and accompanied by meat and vegetables. This was a much awaited local feast as part of the Wendy Wu tour package. We enjoyed preparing the broth at our table after the tour guide gave us instructions and it was a very enjoyable dining experience. |||| On both nights we took a walk along the streets near the hotel. It was great to see the city lit up at night â it made for a great spectacle. We felt very safe walking here at night.||||After our night walks we then enjoyed a cocktail and wine in the hotelâs very fine lobby bar. Like a lot of the Chinese hotels in June/July 2018, the Jinjiang Hotel was also in the midst of Soccer World Cup Fever. The lobby bar was decorated with soccer flags and soccer balls â a nice touch which made our drinking experience memorable. ||||In summary, we really enjoyed our stay in this hotel. We would highly recommend it to travellers needing a good place to sleep, eat and drink when...
Read moreWe stayed here for 3 nights as part of a Wendy Woo tour. The good points on the hotel were that is was in the center of town, near the station, the beds were very comfortable, good shower, aircon ( although very noisy), clean, new bottled water every day and a fridge to chill it. Breakfast had a huge selection especially if you like Asian breakfast but I thought there was plenty for westerners as well. The only thing about the hotel is it felt that it was straight out of the 70s, orange lighting, teak furniture and the bar was dead with atmosphere very dark with some strange drapes on the ceiling.||While we were there we ate in the Chinese restaurant on the 1st, completely over ordered on food - beware Chinese food portions are huge. Food was good but again lacked in atmosphere and difficult to find staff. Next night we ate in the adjoining Chinese restaurant to the right of the hotel. Food was excellent there, we had ribs, potato rosti, |Final night we turned left when leaving the hotel and then first left. We stopped at a restaurant on the right hand side with a little terrace outside. There was a women standing outside with menus and actually had an English one or though some of the translation didnât quite make sense. We ordered chicken, tofu, broccoli and rice, plus 2 beers. Delicious food, plenty to eat and only can to ÂŁ12, they also refused the tip we...
