Holiday Inn Express Qingdao City Center, an IHG Hotel — Hotel in Qingdao

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Qingdao May Fourth Square Olympic Sailing Center and had a great experience. The hotel is a little tricky to find as it is down a small side road, but the location is great. I stayed in a queen-sized room which the staff kindly upgraded to a suite, which was a nice surprise. The check-in process was fast, easy, and simple. The amenities provided by the hotel were good. Breakfast was included in our package and the food was delicious with a big variety. The hotel was super clean, which always adds to the overall experience.The best part of my stay was the superb customer service provided by the hotel staff, especially Hailey, Sandy, and Shirley, as well as the maintenance man. They were always friendly and accommodating, which made my stay even more pleasant. The price was fair for the location, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to adults looking for a great place to stay in Qingdao. However, families with babies may want to reconsider, as the hotel does not provide rooms with a tub or crib and rooms are not sound proof. The hotel is located about 150m in front of exit D of Fushansuo metro station. You can easily see it upon exiting the station and looking on the right. The room is about the right size for a couple travelling together with comfortable bedding. It was clean and we felt at home away from home. Breakfast was local fare in which you can taste a bit of what the local people eat. A nice experience indeed. Surprisingly, you can get free beer at the lobby. The hotel is also near bus stops for you to travel to surrounding areas to have a better view of the places nearby. We would like to show our appreciation to the following personnel Mr Sunny for helping to make reservations for us to the Naval Museum, Ms Hailey for the quick check-in and other formalities and Mr Peter for giving us his suggestions on some local attractions. They together are the driving force and the face of the establishment. The best part of this hotel location is the proximity to the May Fourth Square and Olympic Sailing Centre where you can visit at night and view the amazing digital colour display on all the tall buildings. My stay at the Holiday Inn Express Qingdao was absolutely perfect! The hotel impressed me with its clean, modern rooms, outstanding service, and a great location with easy access to attractions and public transportation. The subway station is 3 min. walk nearby. The breakfast was varied and delicious. Me as a german can also find toast, cerials and a good mix of fresh salad. Local chinese soup and warm dishes looks good, but i didn´t try because of the hot weather —a great way to start the day. I was especially impressed by the friendly and English-speaking reception staff (Mrs. Haley and Mr. Oven), who were always helpful with any questions. They also extend my check-out time to 2pm, which helps me relax, until I need to catch my train. Overall, it offers fantastic value for money—I’ll definitely be back and highly recommend this hotel!
