Nice place for evening walks but too crowded during summer. Although this place is just a square with this monument but you should visit if you’re in Qingdao because it symbolises Qingdao and best place to take pictures to prove you’ve been to Qingdao (lol).
The water sports stadium from 2008 Beijing olympics is nearby which can be visited by walking from square or you can rent bicycles. If you’re planning to visit both places at once then it can take almost 2 hours and maybe a little more time if you decide to go inside the stadium so plan accordingly.

May Fourth Square has the must see Winds of May sculpture at its heart which is a red 700 ton metal sculpture modelled after a gust of wind.
