Calais Hotel Shenzhen — Hotel in Shenzhen

I visited here with my gf and they gave only one room key. Saying that they don’t have enough card key, which means If I have to go outside alone then someone in room cannot use electricity and light, so stupid. Considering chinese income this hotel price is not that cheap, but service is like this, and plus no one speak english(maybe it’s fine), worst experience in shenzhen~ I wanted spare key because I’m smoker and my gf is not, so I asked (sarcastically) then whether I can smoke in room because don’t have spare key, and they said yes, which means that then here is not really ‘smoking free’ hotel. While the hotel does have a lingering cigarette smell, I appreciate that the reception staff was accommodating and willing to change my room upon request. Opening the window helped to alleviate the smell to some extent, but it was still noticeable. Additionally, I experienced some noise from the nearby restaurant before midnight. Very nice location and modern hotel. Rooftop bar is also really enjoyable. Only minus is that rooms do not have a fridge which would be useful and some rooms really smelled of humidity and cigarettes so we requested a different one, which we got with no problem.
