Overall I had a pleasant stay. The employees at the check in desk were very friendly when greeting me at the front desk and checked me in and gave me my room card key within minutes. The hotel has a proper lobby area on the first floor and the check desks are well staffed and well lit and easy to find and so when you’re first checking in, you get a good impression of the hotel. There is also a luckin coffee shop and convenience store in that same first floor lobby so you can pop down and get something to drink easily. They also reserve two elevators in the building for hotel guests only and so its easy to enter and leave your hotel room. The hotel room itself was very well cleaned, the toilet area was very well cleaned and the bed linens were clean too. There was also no smell of cigarette smoke at all and also there wasn’t any smell of cigarettes coming from other hotel rooms through the centralised air ventilation (maybe because there weren’t many guests staying on my floor on the day of my stay). The noise proofing between the room door and the outside corridor was quite good so I didn’t hear other guests on my floor leaving and entering their rooms from inside my room. The hotel room was very spacious for me as I was using the room alone and there was a nice area where I could unpack my carry on suitcase and even a small round desk with a chair where you could work on a laptop or eat takeaway. My room had quite a large sized window (they tint the windows to make the sunlight that enters the hotel room to not be too intense). The curtains were super thick and blocked out all outside light and so I could have a completely dark room at night for good rest and sleep. The air conditioning in the room worked very well and both the coolness and intensity could be adjusted easily. It was very easy to use didi to call a taxi and leave the hotels for meals or walks. For example, it only took 7 minutes to get to coco park shopping centre and 5 minutes to get to futian high speed...
Read morePros:The hotel is conveniently located, with several restaurants less than a minute’s walk away. My room had a great view of the Ping An Finance Center, which was truly impressive. The breakfast was better than what I had at Mehood Lestie in Guangzhou, though still nothing to get excited about. Self-service laundry room was a big plus!Cons:Unfortunately, there are no complimentary late-night noodles here. The nearest metro station, Shixia, is about a 15–20 minute walk away, which can be inconvenient. If you plan to visit the Civic Center for the light show, a Didi or taxi ride will cost around 15 RMB. Getting to the Window of the World metro station by taxi costs about 30 RMB. These trips can add up quickly, so it’s best to stay at a hotel close to a metro station. Shenzhen has excellent metro connectivity, so I recommend choosing a hotel near the Window of the World metro station or along the same metro line.Sightseeing Tips:Window of the World metro station is a major hub for the sightseeing bus. The stop has a closed, air-conditioned waiting room, which is great for relaxing while you wait. You’ll also find fruit vendors outside or can grab a proper meal from inside the metro station. Other major sightseeing bus stops include Shenzhen Bay Park and the Glory of the Bay (Ferris Wheel Stop). The Glory of the Bay stop also has an AC waiting area, which is a nice touch. The Civic Center is an excellent viewing location for the light show, and there is an area which doesn't require any...
Read moreI stayed at the Grand Chu hotel for a week, and had nothing but trouble with their front desk. On my first night, I fell on some uneven pavement outside the hotel property and hobbled back to desk. I showed them my bleeding and swollen knee, and showed them chinese symbol for "Ice". They told me that they had no ice for rooms. Five restaurants and bars, and no ice? I told them again (using translation device) "Hurt" "Knee" "ice" and they grudgingly said they would deliver. After waiting for 30 mins, I called downstairs and they said it would be delivered "soon". Never came. Bed was rock hard and knee was throbbing, so I slept poorly.||||Next day my client was horrified that they didn't deliver, and called to complain. They offered to move me to a 'deluxe' room. This meant a rock hard bed AND a sitting room. This room faced the 8 lane road outside and was very noisy. I chose to sleep on sofa of living room as it was softer and room was quieter... until the disco, 2 floors below, started up at 10 pm. Again, another sleepless night. Finally on third move, to top floor and away from street, I was able to get a decent night's sleep (ask for 2 extra comforters and put these on top of the mattress to approximate a 'stiff' bed...)||||They are on major east-west bus lines so if you want to go to Luo Hu or to Shekou, you are equidistant between them; however, I found their service to be so poor that I refuse to stay there...
