Seashine Hotel — Hotel in Xiamen

My stay here was a positive experience, especially considering my primary need for a cheaper and clean place to stay before catching my flight the next day. My flight wasn't too early, so I decided to stay in the city and randomly chose this hotel based on its price.Upon entering the room, I was surprised by the huge size of both the room and the bathroom!. The bed, I must say, was very comfortable, which made for a restful night.As I had read in other reviews, the hotel is indeed old, but it seems they put effort into keeping it as clean as possible. I didn't have any cleanliness issues during my stay. The bedsheets and towels were very clean, which was important to me. The carpet wasn't very clean, and the sofa in the room looked quite old. I didn't need to use them, so it wasn't a problem for me.I also read that someone mentioned the elevator didn't work, and they had to carry their luggage. It was the same for me. Fortunately, my luggage was small, so I didn't mind too much. However, I can imagine it would be quite challenging for people with big luggage. I'm sure the hotel staff would help if asked, though.It seems like the elevator issue is a recurring problem, and the hotel should fix it. Despite their efforts to maintain cleanliness and provide a positive experience in other aspects, a malfunctioning elevator is definitely a negative for them.On the other hand, the staff at the hotel was friendly and always had a welcoming smile. At first I thought we'd chosen badly but after a few nights I realized that this is a great hotel. It's in a good place, on a main road with lots of transport options nearby, including the train station. It's within walking distance of Zhongshan Road through Zhongshan Park and a flower market. If you go down some side streets, you'll find lots of shops, markets, restaurants and eating outlets. There's a large shopping area about 15 minutes walk from the hotel. We had a deluxe room on the no-smoking floor and while the decor was older and a bit worn, the room was a good size and had everything we could ask for, e.g. a great bed, functional bathroom with a good shower. Breakfast was included and had a good range of dishes, mainly Chinese but there was a good variety of different breads, cereals, fruit, juices, and of course eggs so plently for everyone. The staff in the hotel are outstanding. They were extremely helpful and really made sure our stay was special. We weren't able to use the free shuttle bus because of the times of our flights. The front desk personnel was very helpful and willing to help me on my unusual request without any hesitation. Room is big and comfortable and clean and very generous to supplies 4 bottles of mineral water.There are two Seashine hotel in Siming District. So when taking a taxi be sure to mention the Seashine hotel at road 819 because there is another Seashine hotel at Siming District. And the address shown in the hotel card was so small, taxi driver hardly can see. We don't know mandarin so we requested the front desk to write down the address big enough for the taxi driver to read. I enjoy the breakfast as there's plenty of choices even the famous sha cha mian and the peanut soup was available there. If you love coffee, their coffee is very strong....I love it.Definitely recommend this hotel as the price is also very affordable for a 4...
