Location and Staff: The hotel boasts a beautiful view, making for a relaxing and scenic stay. The reception staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, providing excellent service.
Room Amenities: The hot water pressure was excellent. Additional comfortable lounge chairs would be a welcome improvement for relaxing in the room. A larger trash can, especially outside of the bathroom and in the room itself (ideally near the minibar), would be more convenient. The lack of a dedicated trash can for room service created an issue of overflowing garbage, particularly problematic in a forested area where insects and animals might be attracted.
Room Service: The beef tataki was delicious, a true culinary highlight. Unfortunately, there was no system for collecting used room service dishes. This, combined with the lack of a proper trash can, led to an unsanitary situation. Consider offering more trash can liners for room service use.
Minibar: A wider variety of minibar options beyond peanut-containing items would be appreciated by guests with allergies.
Restaurant: The cappuccino's scalded milk resulted in an unpleasant taste and texture. It might be beneficial to explore alternative milk heating methods. The dessert listed as "cheesecake" had a coconut flavor and a flan or panna cotta-like consistency. A name change to reflect the actual dessert would be more accurate.
Overall: While the hotel has some positive aspects, a few improvements could elevate the guest experience. These include offering a wider variety of comfortable seating and trash can options in the rooms, along with addressing the scalded milk issue in the cappuccino, the mislabeled dessert, and the lack of a system for collecting used room service dishes. This is especially important considering the potential for attracting wildlife due to overflowing garbage in a natural...

My stay at Porto Marina Hotel in Guatapé was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the stunning natural surroundings and the impeccable service provided by the hotel staff.
Nestled in the heart of Guatapé, this fine hotel offers breathtaking views of the lake and mountains, creating a serene and picturesque atmosphere. The accommodations are thoughtfully designed, with private cabins that provide a perfect blend of comfort and exclusivity. Many of the rooms feature jacuzzis, fully equipped kitchens, and spacious decks overlooking the dam, making it an ideal retreat for relaxation.
One of the standout aspects of my stay was the exceptional service. The staff was attentive, ensuring that every request was met with efficiency and warmth. The room service was timely, allowing me to enjoy gourmet meals in the comfort of my cabin. Additionally, the hotel offers wetbike rentals, which made exploring the lake an exhilarating experience. Jessica, I think was her name, responded quickly to every request made using WhatsApp, which a great way to communicate requests.
However, future travelers should be aware that some of the cabins require navigating steep terrain and long staircases. While this adds to the charm and adventure of the stay, it does mean that guests should be in good physical shape to fully enjoy the experience.
Overall, Porto Marina Hotel is a hidden gem in Guatapé, perfect for those seeking a luxurious escape surrounded by nature. Whether you're looking for relaxation, adventure, or a mix of both, this hotel delivers an unforgettable experience.

Read moreWe had a pretty bad experience at the hotel. From the beginning we had issues with the key to our marina. It broke on the first night. We got another key that didn't work properly with the lock and we could not close the marina at times. The handyman was really nice and fixed the issue, but afterwards it still happened two more times. During our last night it was raining a lot and it turned out there were at least 2 holes in the roof, in the kitchen and in the bedroom. While we were trying to eat breakfast in the morning, the water was dropping on our plates. Also, our luggage got really wet, including documents and a passport. We had to dry our belongings with a hair dryer for a long time while being in a hurry to check out. Things like that should not happen, especially at places that charge this much for a night. We reported the problem and were offered a laughable 2% of what we spent on our stay there. Besides the leaking roof, a lot of small things in the room didn't work. One chair was partially broken, so it was easy to fall from it. The kettle didn't work as well. We reported the broken kettle three times and it was finally replaced with another broken kettle. At that point we just gave up and stopped reporting the problem. There is also almost no storage in the room for your things. Literally two small shelves and two drawers. You have to put your things on the floor, so it's always messy in the room. Under the floorboards there is no insulation, you can see bare ground between the cracks. This is probably the main reason why the house is quite cold and...
