I am not one to leave a negative review, but I need to share this here since the hotel refused to post my review on their website. We stayed here during Carnaval. Some of our luggage was stolen right off their front step as the security guard played on his phone from 3 feet away, while we were still unloading our van. They didn't believe us when we reported some of our bags missing. Finally after about an hour, the management allowed us to view their security footage, where you could see the guy swoop in off the end of their driveway and grab the pieces of luggage. The hotel staff and management offered no apology, assistance nor any type of discount when we had to leave the hotel early and fly to the capital to obtain new passports as ours were stolen in those bags. No credit was given for the lost nights stay. We were told they were not responsible for anything stolen on their property. A front desk employee by the name of Alejandra was the most rude and unprofessional person we have ever dealt with. She literally laughed and ridiculed us when we tried to speak to management about our stolen luggage. I am so sorry we picked this holiday inn to stay at during our visit to Barranquilla. We traveled to many other Colombian cities during this vacation and we were treated with the utmost respect and professionalism everywhere, except here. Read more*Beware loyal IHG guests. I recently checked-in for the first time wanting to try this property and checked-out an hour later! Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience with the check-in staff at the Holiday Inn. They were unprofessional and seemed disinterested in providing good customer service. To make matters worse, the manager Luis Ramirez was making up his own rules without providing any written policy to support his statements. He would not permit my nieces to swim in the pool for two hours. This lack of transparency and accountability is unacceptable and severely impacted my overall impression of the hotel. I contacted Holiday Inn’s Customer Care spoke with a representative who agreed there was no written policy regarding guests in the pool. They contacted Luis and advised him he should permit my nieces to swim for a few hours. After the call the Holiday representative came back to me and stated he cleared things up. Unfortunately Luis said he wasn’t changing his mind regardless of what Holiday Inn’s corporate offices said. He said it was his hotel and his rules.
Ultimately I booked a room at the Hilton Garden Inn, Barranquilla where I have stayed many times and had fantastic experiences.
