The reviews were right. You won't find hot water here (because it's a beach city on the Atlantic coast and always hot. Hot water isn't a concept here, since everything is always hot.) And no, you may not get windows, or a toilet seat cover, or towels, and you're definitely not getting cushy mattresses or linen. But if you're fixing to visit Barranquilla to party during Carnival, then this place isn't the worse you could do. It was safe and it was clean, and they gave me take out menus in lieu of room service. Like, what more do you need when you don't expect to stay in your room anyway? Of course it was overpriced for what you get, and it's no where near anything, but then again, when 95% of the hotel rooms are booked in town during the biggest holiday of the year, you make due with whatever you can find, especially if you're like me and book the day before. I can't say this is one of the best accommodations I've ever stayed in - just 1 wall socket for the entire room, which meant I had to disconnect the TV to plug in gadgets; glaring fluorescent lighting and no lamps meant you could customize your lighting any way you wanted as long as you preferred soul-crushing corporate office light; and the cold showers you took didn't stay in the showers, or even in the bathroom because, no curtains, so midnight bathroom breaks were like stepping out of your tent with no shoes and doing your business in the woods after a storm - but I can definitely say that the level of professionalism and courtesy the staff gave was as good as you'd find at any fancy hotel. They offered me recommendations to enjoy the parties, free homemade breakfasts, gave me extra towels upon request and were even able to give me a street-facing room with a window on my second night, albeit a tiny window in a tiny cubby space. LOL! No, Rivera Del Mar wasn't swanky, but it...
Read moreWe were, me and my friends in Barranquilla last year in November for a few days.||We stayed at that hotel and really liked it. The staff is really friendly, nice and was very helpful when it came to find a place to exchange currency, places to go out, taxis etc. Very friendly like everybody in Colombia :) ||There's a restaurant downstairs but we haven't tried it...only for breakfast and it was just ok. Don't expect anything fancy, but it was clean.||The Hotel is well located, in El Centro, safe neighborhood, plenty of taxis outside, restaurants, buses ....||The rooms are clean with AC, TV, a fridge...||||We will definitely stay there next time we go back...
Read moreDo not rely on reviews from "Venere.com"...This Hotel is a disaster..They required credit card guarantee when booking thru Venere.com. Hotel does not accept credit cards,Only Colombian pesos, cash only, had to find a ATM to pay hotel bill... Stayed one night ...Hotel doesn't even have hot water, had "one" well used bath towel. Not a very good area... Venere.com shows three stars for this this hotel, when it is in a one star category...Who ever gave it a 3 star rating should be fired...Definitely do not recommend and do not rely on "Venere.com"...
