Amazing hotel, expensive for Columbia... but well worth the price.
We came up to the unassuming front door on the street to have it open out onto a total Oasis, which in turns looks out across the mountains.
They have taken a traditional house and turned it into something completely unique. They have kept all the quirky little spaces and have not shoehorned in as many rooms as possible.
This place is about the entire experience both in your room and in the communal areas, of which there are many spaces... inside, outside, small secluded settees, to wide open dining tables.
There is even a kitchen you are invited to use as they only prepare breakfast. And while our room had its own balcony and hammock with the largest walk in shower room come walk in wardrobe / dressing room I have ever seen, one of the other guests we were travelling with had a small kitchen, sofa and office space rendering it completely self sustained.
This has so far been the best night's sleep in our entire...

We originally booked just two nights, but we loved Jericó and El Despertar Hotel so much that we extended our stay for two more nights—and honestly, we could have stayed even longer!
This hotel is an absolute gem. Everything is immaculately clean, and the rooms and the entire house are simply stunning. The decor is beautiful, creating a warm and peaceful atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
The hosts are incredibly kind and attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed. Their hospitality truly made our stay extra special.
And then there’s the whirlpool on the terrace—what a dream! Sitting there, soaking in the views and the peaceful surroundings, was pure bliss.
The breakfast is another highlight—fresh fruits, homemade dishes prepared right in front of us in the open kitchen—it was the perfect way to start each day.
If you’re visiting Jericó, El Despertar Hotel is the place to stay. We HIGHLY recommend it and can’t wait...
Read moreExtremely disappointed in El Despartar Hotel. This was to be my last night in Jerico. I had verified several times with them my reservation for Room #8. I even visited them a few days before to view the room etc.||||When I arrived on the date of my reservation at 1pm, they said I couldn't have my room, someone was in it. They offered another for the same price, without a view, without a hammock.||What the?||||They need a few lessons in customer service.||I do not recommend this hotel as they don't keep their word. Beware.||||-- Oddly, they somewhat lie. I posted a review (this story) n Google and they responded that the guest who had my room had a "late checkout".. which is not what I was told at all. Also, they said a similar room had been offered... again, not true... as noted the rooms were very different. They're not owning to the poorly handled situation and furthermore, are spinning a story. ||||Shame on you...
