We booked the king size bed suite. The rooms of this hotel are right next to a main street where all vehicles, especially noisy motorbikes and trucks have to travel to move around the city at any time. It feels like sleeping on the road. The noise of the motorbikes did not allow us to sleep for 2 nights, the room is a clean room that seems to have been remodeled, but it looks like a prison with high white ceilings without any wall decoration, just a TV on the wall full of ugly cables that lead to a huge table with which you hit your knee when walking. The windows do not have curtains to block out the morning light, which means that at six a.m. you’ll be awake . When we woke up (after a few hour sleep) we found out that the water heater was not working, having to shower in 58f (14c) weather, with water as cold as a cold river. Some people complained about it, and at night we managed to get hot water, but the next morning the water was freezing again. Staying in this hotel was a nightmare, the reasons to stay in a hotel is to sleep well and have a nice shower, neither can be achieved in this place. The staff, although friendly, did not guide us correctly on how to get tour guides to learn about Jericó, even gave us wrong directions. The food at the restaurant was horrible, we ate on one occasion and left the whole pizza on the table. The stay includes breakfasts, breakfasts that consisted of only 3 options, no juices, just coffee or tea, horrible, a poorly cooked single egg, a cold toast and an arepa that could barely be eaten, the first day we left breakfast on the table and went to have breakfast elsewhere and never came back to the restaurant. We are still waiting to put on some robes that were suppose to be deliver to the room. We weren't expecting a 5-star hotel, but we weren't expecting a cheap overpriced motel either. The bathroom is very nice and comfortable, but it is useless if you have to shower with freezing cold water. Terrible experience, this cannot be called a hotel, and not for almost $100 per night, maybe a hostel or a motel is a better category, I wouldn’t pay more than $25 for this place. The building is nice, the view from the balcony is beautiful, but it's useless if you can't sleep, rest or shower ...
Read moreI've been living in Medellin for a couple months and went to Jerico so I could experience a Colombian Coffee Farm. I booked my trip through Turismo Jerico and they arranged for me to stay at this wonderful hotel. The people were so nice and friendly upon my arrival and my room was so clean and spacious that I immediately booked an extra night, knowing that I could relax in their hotel. It's right on the Pueblo square and within walking distance to the Turismo Jerico office. ||The staff at Hotel Rio Piedras went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. I wanted to get some frozen yogurt one night and the ladies at the front desk offered to walk me there! I travel for work so I've been all over the world and Jerico has a wonderful small town charm that was definitely accentuated with Rio Piedras' kind and caring staff members.||The Hotel itself is beautiful. It has a wonderful South American Pueblo charm to it and I even noticed how nice the towels were! There is also a wonderful sitting area on the second floor so if you are a family, its a great spot for games and it has a very comfy couch if you want to lay down for a few minutes.||On my last night, I ended up chatting with the owner in their restaurant on the first floor. Sweet as can be! I highly recommend staying at Hotel Rio Piedras should you find yourself wanting to explore the fabulous town of Jerico, Colombia.||||||Hotel Rio Piedras esta muy bien! Yo Recomendaria! La gente esta fabuloso y feliz. Los cuertos estan bonitas y limpias. El locacion...
Read moreI have been in the Tourism industry my whole life which has allowed me to experience the most amazing properties around the world. Taking that into account, I have to say that Hotel Rio Piedras is a hidden gem in Colombia. The small size of the property allows their staff to have full control over the guests experience and without any doubts, they managed to exceed my expectations. The charming style of the hotel, the very comfortable, clean and beautifully furnished rooms just enhanced my "Jerico Town experience". Oh! and I forgot to mention how amazing was the food in their restaurant. All in all, I give this hotel a 10 out of 10; and I am looking forward to coming back and staying longer next time!! Highly...
