Hostal El Personaje — Hotel in Cartagena

A lot of people will tell you that Playa Blanca is vile...and if you go on a day trip and stay on the part of the beach were you get dropped off, then they'd be right. But plan to stay a night or two and walk down the beach, and it's lovely! (caviat: we weren't there at a weekend)||We booked the two rooms here (there are only two - it's a beach hut on stilts, with two 'bedrooms' separated by a bamboo wall . ||It is absolutely beautiful and the father and son who run it were very nice (if somewhat elusive)||It is however, very basic - which we were more than happy with, but if you want luxury resort type accommodation, then this isn't for you. The loo flushes by throwing a bucket of water down it and the shower is also a bucket of water. ||But then, you're on the Caribbean sea!||I'm not sure what it would have been like to have a stranger in the other room as the wall was very flimsy and the shack would shake when someone was coming up or down the ladder. ||There are two sun loungers and a table underneath the hut, exclusively for your use, so you don't need to rent a lounger. ||overall we had a lovely time here, juts be prepared for it to be very basic (as are pretty much all the places along the beach, as far as...

Lovely 3 night stay here.. the hostel has 3 rooms not 2.. 2 are with sea side views and are 2 connected huts on stilts with a shared balcony ( lovely ).. the other is a total sea view but has 2 beds so a 'family room'.. as described by reviews on here and Booking.Com.. ||Owner - HeeMee.. is lovely.. so helpful.. ||Rooms have Mosquito nets but never saw one.. found a free wifi service 2 doors away although only 20 mins per evening.. ||One thing.. it is difficult to find! So, from the bus drop off follow sea to your left maybe 20 minutes-ish.. look out for ' Alejandro Express' sign clearly visible.. property is 30 yards before this.. ||Speed boat transport not for the feint hearted.. but worth it for the thrill.. paid 25,000 one way.. bus is 25-30,000 one way..||It is great.. you can have food there.. great.. plenty of cats and dogs...

Me and my fiance stayed here, it was originally meant to be for 2 days and we ended up staying for 10. And we were still sad to leave when we did.||The location was great, we were down the non-tourist end of the beach and only had to walk through the horrible busy bit when we arrived and when we left. ||Mr Personaje (as all the locals called him) was very welcoming, answered all our questions, helped us when we needed it and we couldn't speaking more highly of him.
