This is not 5 star hotel. It's a 3 ⭐ in reality. The territory of the hotel is big and it's done nicely. It would have potential if if if..... Stuff doesn't speak English AT ALL. Ok, on reception desk they do a bit.. We were suppose to change our room because AC didn't work properly, it's blowing up like crazy so u cannot stay into the room or it doesn't work at all. So u chose to sleep in hell hot or hell cold windy room. Taps are dripping, they also have loud music till the 22.30, so be ready to not be able to sleep till this time. The good thing-they changed our room to the one that has working AC. Well, the story was almost the same- it was blowing like crazy and cold or there was an option to make it lower but still it was hot into the room so I couldn't sleep properly, always woke up, did the change for the AC for few mints to make it a bit colder then I shifted it to medium setting and went to sleep untill I woke up from hot again.. I wanna mention that this is the 5 ⭐ hotel. Yet internet didn't work properly. I won't tell whole the story, I just wanna say it's bad and always keeps interacting. So if u do check in or something else that needs constant connection ,u will have troubles. They tried to fix this problem, they even brought a modem to our room but it was the same. Tv didn't work as well in the room, AT ALL. The hotel has potential with the territory and the way it was done but they need to improve the service and the basic things make to be worked. Also I was trying to get to the gym. It's in another building and reception man said it's a minute walk to the left. There r many ways to walk and I got lost, the service ppl on a way couldn't help me because they don't know what means "gym" in English. Then finally one of the client woman was kind and asked what I'm looking for. She brought me to the gym. I can say it was a long walk with trying to find out where the hell is this gym. In the end I came there, the guys asked me my room number, name and they kept talking to me something in Spanish. I made it clear- I don't understand Spanish. They kept saying something else.. I got angry from all of that and just left the gym and went back to my room. I know, I'm at third world country but don't call urself a 5 star hotel then. I didn't describe whole the things what's going on here, it's already enough. There r good things as a nice territory and I can see they are trying to keep it clean. Gym was also nice but untill I reached the point that I can workout I lost my mood. Yes, on the beach u pay for umbrellas as well... For me also was a plus to see and hear airplanes flying because the airport is right beside, actually that's why I choose to stay here. If u got an option to stay here for free, then it's ok. For free u can manage it. But these guys have to work yet very hard to reach 5 ⭐. I'm very upset to choose this place to stay in. I didn't go to eat at their restaurant because of the reviews that I read from other clients. I took a taxi and went out.
P.s. a little video of a nice view at the hotel but also with a very loud music. It feels like windows don't block the sound at all. So u can imagine how u can sleep if for example u need to wake up early to...
Read moreI am writing to express my serious concern and disappointment regarding an issue I encountered during my recent stay at your establishment in Cartagena. The hotel itself is decent. As an American guest, I believe your hotel failed in its duty of care by not informing visitors about the aggressive and fraudulent behavior of some beach vendors operating just outside your property.||||During our visit, I was approached by vendors who seemed affiliated with the hotel or at least operating freely in close proximity. They offered services or products and processed payments via credit card. Only later did my friend discover she had been overcharged significantly—an amount far above what was agreed upon. This appears to be a common scam targeting foreign tourists, particularly Americans.||||What is most troubling is that your staff did not issue any warnings or guidance about these practices, which could have easily prevented this situation. By failing to advise or protect guests, your hotel may be engaging in conduct that borders on being unfair or deceptive, as described in Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act, which prohibits "unfair or deceptive acts or practices in or affecting commerce."||||As a guest, I expected a reasonable level of support and transparency. At the very least, hotels operating in tourist areas with known scams should be proactive in warning their guests. Your inaction in this regard demonstrates a neglect of responsibility that contributes to these predatory behaviors continuing unabated.||||I urge your management to take the following steps:||||Train your front desk and concierge staff to warn guests about beach vendor scams.||||Provide visible signage or written materials in guest packets with guidance on how to safely engage with local vendors.||||Cooperate with local authorities to report known scam incidents and take action when guests are victimized. The hotel itself was decent, but I'm very disappointed that no one warned us about the aggressive vendors...
Read moreWe haven't been here since the 2019 but had visited annually for years prior. This time we stayed in the more traditional units, not the modern tower. What has changed? What could do with a bit of change? What should never change? Security seems excellent, both on the property and on the nearby beachfront. Several years ago, there were some issues on the beach but they even had stepped up security then. Cleanliness is exceptional. They keep everything clean, including the gym (which is the best gym you're going to find at most any hotel outside of the Middle East- they even have a decline bench). Housekeeping is the best we've seen in a long time. How many times have you had to call for an extra towel or shower cap? In Stockholm, Vienna, Milan, and Monaco in recent weeks, we've had less than mediocre experiences. Not only do they send what they say they're sending to your room but they do it immediately and someone calls to confirm. The staff all have that pleasant Colombian Caribbean swag, which is great for us always in a New York State-of-Mind travelers. Dining- Their restaurant Fogon is amazing- perhaps even Michelin level. The others are not bad but hit and miss, depending on what you order. The buffet for breakfast is not non-pork, non-beef, non-gluten, etc. friendly. You have to be careful. They also remind you to tip at each meal- strange, as it is commonplace for "Americans". They also give you the bill before asking if you'd like dessert, another drink, or anything else- always. Granted, time spent eating a cake is not worth a restaurant's valuable tables but when there isn't a crowd waiting, why not gain a little more money from your clientele. No desserts, coffees, or alcohol at the end of our 8 party family has saved us hundreds. In any event, I do miss and enjoy spending time at Las Americas and would highly recommend it. We are travelers (see other reviews) and would give this hotel a relatively high score compared to hotels in most regions...
