We stayed here for 3 nights.
Pros - Room had an incredible view, and you can hear the waves throughout the night. The service from the couple and also Jessie (Workaway worker) was amazing, they all went above and beyond to make our trip great. You have the best space on the island to watch the sunset from the chairs on the beach. We went on the raccoon tour and also the illuminating plankton tour, both of which were super fun and the tour guides we had were great fun and answered all our questions! The breakfast included was very yummy. The arranged transport for us from Cartagena, both there and back and both the taxi drivers were friendly and trustworthy. From the guest house you are literally 3 steps away from the sea. We are travelling for our honeymoon and they had put some love hearts up in our room which was a lovely thoughtful gesture.
Cons The guest house was full of sand, throughout the communal areas, toilets & showers and bedrooms. Either it is that your feet are always sanding or soaking wet from sea water to clean the areas. This became a-bit annoying after the first day. We were told that there would be food available in the evenings, on Sunday when we arrived it was just pizza but we were told it would be a proper menu tomorrow and the day after, when we asked about this, it was only pizza. This was fine we just walked along to other places to eat but just bear in mind that a lot of places shut or stop serving food after 6pm. This is for the island as a whole but the toilets were flushing with a bucket of sea water. Again meant that the floors in the toilets were wet along with the toilet seats. The room we had was the double at the front with a sea view, the view was amazing but the room was super small, not a lot of room to move around if there is 2 of you in there. I think this is noted but right outside the guesthouse there is quite a lot of coral in the sea, so you have to go up or down the beach a few minutes to swim properly.
Overall we enjoyed our stay, but 3 nights were more than enough. I think the guest house just needs a little bit doing to it to make the whole feel of the place more...
Read moreIt would have been a lovely place - amazing view and quiet part of the beach. However not possible to rest or disconnect as we planned - the diesel aggregate ran from 6 to 11 pm (who comes here to be on a computer or a phone?) and after that the neighbour's one till 5 am - so noise and smell worse than a gas station. Also not the most attentive staff (took and hour to change the bed so we can check in and go swim, also ended up without mosquito net, which is not ideal). Breakfast was ok, terrible coffee. The only thing that was great was the view from the private-room terrace - spectacular between 4 and 6 pm when everyone is gone and the diesel aggregate is not...
Read moreThe rooms and the whole Cabanita are very simple, but we found them perfect. we stayed one night, the host was super friendly and helpful at all times, breakfast was good and everything was nice and clean. she gave us great recommendations where to go to eat etc and arranged a boat for us for the way back to Cartagena. we also loved her cat which loved to cuddle 😻 Only little downside could be loud music until late night from surrounding hotels, but I guess one can't avoid it on the...
