Having the chance to wake up every morning to the melodious sound of the birds residing in the towering nearby tree was a truly magical experience. I didn't need any alarm clock, as the diverse array of birds provided me with a natural and enchanting awakening. Coming from Minca, we still felt immersed in a true paradise.
As a specialty coffee lover, I had the unfortunate situation of forgetting my thermos. However, the hostel's kitchen team was incredibly helpful in providing me with a pot of hot water every morning to enjoy my coffee. This attentive and friendly gesture was truly appreciated.
After savoring my cup of coffee and taking a refreshing dip in the pool, breakfast turned into a delightful culinary experience. The hostel's restaurant offered exquisite dishes that satisfied all my morning cravings and preferences.
I traveled in the company of my father, and while I needed to work a few hours as a digital nomad, he fully enjoyed his vacation. The strategic location of the hostel, close to the beach, allowed us to make the most of the plans and activities that Palomino has to offer. Additionally, for those of us who work remotely, it's important to note that being at the base of the Sierra Nevada, occasional fluctuations in internet connection may occur (We're not in New York, dude, we're in a tropical paradise). However, overall, I was able to conduct all my meetings and calls without any issues.
During the evenings, the hostel offers fun activities for its guests. During my stay, I had the pleasure of participating in dance classes, and although I couldn't join the bingo due to my late return, the energy and festive atmosphere were always present. Oh, and they have yoga in the mornings! I was working, and my father wanted to relax, haha, but I will definitely attend the yoga classes when I come back.
Overall, the entire hostel staff works in perfect harmony, like a true family. From the cleaning team to the management, each member made sure I felt at home. But not just any home, a giant home with a refreshing pool, beautiful birds, and just a couple of blocks from the beach.
I would highly recommend this hostel to any traveler seeking an exceptional experience in Palomino. Its charming details, delicious dishes, prime location, and welcoming atmosphere make it a special place that will make you feel like part of a large family of travelers. I can't wait...
Read moreWe arrived in the evening (dark) but upon arrival we saw immediately that in the hostel, they knew what they were doing here. It looked authentic, it looked clean and as we came to find out they can provide you with everything. The rooms are amazing as you have your own hut with a bed. We also did the upgraded room with private bathroom, amazing as well! The swimming pool is awesome and spacious and a really good place to meet other travellers. The other common areas were also really set up for easy conversation with other people, which is really helpful for a hostel. Breakfast is sufficient and nice options, the other foods (pizzas, burritos) were very good as well! The personel was also very friendly and great to talk with and just have a laugh. Alba and the ladies at the reception, you were amazing!
On top of this, the sea is literally less than a 5 minute walk. The beach is not the most beautiful in Colombia, but it is still a Caribbean coast so still very pretty.
All in all, very satisfied with our stay. Tiki hut is the best way to relax a few days and really settle down in a part of Colombia that is not as touristy yet.
P.S. One thing you should know: It really is a hostel in its core, but the set-up and the luxury services (swimming pool, jacuzzi, sportsbar) might give you some luxurious...
Read moreThe place is actually pretty nice and located in a nice spot close to the sea. Me and my girlfriend booked a private room there.
In the morning for the arrival I got a bad food poisoning and asked the staff if I could cancel the reservation. I preferred a hotel with airco instead of a hostel. The staff told me this was not possible and that sleeping should be no problem since the hostel is silent at night.
How wrong could they be. It was 23:15 in the night when my girlfriend had to ask for the music to stop. The music was really loud and the rooms have no isolation (which makes sense for the type of hut of course). After the music stop playing groups of people kept on hanging around the pool area talking loud.
All in all I would definitely not recommend this for a nice getaway with your partner. If you are with friends and want to drink beer: perfect spot. But since I feel like the staff mislead me no more...
