Hotel Real Manzanares — Hotel in Medellín

Good:||+ Close to Plaza Botero & Parque Berrio metro station; ||+ Can't beat the price - very cheap for the city center; ||+ Good TV / cable channels||||Bad & Ugly:||- You do get what you pay for - extremely cheap for a private room with private bath in the center, but with that, comes several issues...||- Though close to the center, the location was sketchy. Just a block from the hotel on the way to Plaza Botero or Parque Berrio metro station, you pass by some questionable areas, people & lots of prostitutes - definitely doesn't feel safe at night; ||- Lots of traffic noise due to the location; ||- Not really a lot of good restaurants that are close by; ||- The room had lots of cockroaches & bugs crawling everywhere (I lost count of the number of cockroaches I killed); ||- The room wasn't very clean or comfortable, which is probably why there are lots of cockroaches; ||- Wifi only works on the first floor; ||- The staff was ok - not the best or the...

First off, this is not a luxury hotel. There was pretty much everything you would expect from a cheap hotel. However, the room was comfortable and the location was ideal. The most important thing, if you're traveling with one other person, this place is less than half the price of the cheapest hostel in the city...and you get a private room rather than space in a dorm. The desk staff were very friendly and allowed us to stash our bags for the last day before we left. I would recommend people visit this hostel if they're looking for an affordable place. I stayed in this hotel while the Feria de las flores was taking place. It's in a great location, close to the metro, and plaza de botero. The food facilities around are bad, I didn't find any good place to eat my breakfast. But with the metro I just went to other parts of the city where the food was better. It isn't no luxury hotel, but it's much better than to stay in a hostal, and it's on a good central location. The hygiene of the room was good too, which I find very important .
