We stayed 11 nights at Posada Lizard House and had a great experience. Note that this is a "posada nativa", and it is really different of a hotel staying. At Lizard House you'll be more in contact with the culture of the island and will learn how people in the island live, their routines, food preferences, etc. So, it is probable that you'll find some differences in customs you are used to in your city/country. But if you have an opened mind for that, Lizard House will be great for you.||Room: we stayed at the Yellow Lizard, it is a room with double bed, private bathroom, air conditioner, cable TV and a small refrigerator. There is no wi-fi in the room, just at the common area in front of the kitchen. The room was small but very clean, they have room service every day.||Breakfast: it is not included in the price, but there is an employee that prepares if you ask for it. We prepared our own breakfast in the common kitchen. You can use the common kitchen to prepare your own meals, but it is an open kitchen, and I did not feel comfortable in cooking there because I am not used to quantity of bugs that exists in San Andres. ||Location: it is closed to a supermarket, a bakery, and bus stop to the West View (in front of the Posada). Walk 2 blocks and you'll be able to take a bus to San Luis or Rocky Cay. But it is a little bit far away from downtown, specially during the sunny days we got in San Andres (I think that the heat makes distances appear longer!). In downtown you'll find more options of restaurants, bakeries, places to eat, and stores.||Staff: The "staff" really made the difference during our staying. Marcela and Ernesto, the owners of the place, are so proud of living in San Andres and they make everything to show you the beautiful island they live. They want you to know every little place in the island and to taste all the different typical food they have. Always worried about how our days were going during our staying, if we were enjoying, with hints about places to relax at the beach and restaurants to eat. Ernesto also has contacts with tourist agents, so you can ask him if you want to rent a golf cart, do a scuba diving, etc, he books everything for you with no costs (and his hints and places he indicates are amazing, we never got wrong with them). Between a hint and another, we had great talks about the island, economy, history of Colombia, etc. Marcela is also so sweet, she wanted us to taste the lullo juice and crabs that she prepared one night, I never had a such a affective reception in the places I went until now. Due to them, we could learn a lot about the island, a culture with a lot of different things from ours, they certainly...
Read moreMy wife and I are traveling Colombia for a few weeks, and are passing through San Andres for one night while on our way to Providencia. As the island is busy on weekends, I made a reservation at this Posada a month in advance to make sure we had a place to stay for the night.||The day before our arrival, I suddenly got an email from the posada saying that our reservation was cancelled because they did not have my credit card to take the 50% deposit. I immediately called them, and they said they already gave my room to someone else (this was right after they sent me the email, so that quick turnaround seemed a bit suspect). Also, considering I made the original reservation through Hotwire and can confirm the payment details were included, it again seems the owner of this posada is not being honest. Up until I was supposed to stay there, Hotwire still showed my reservation as confirmed, so go figure. I suspect that since we were only coming for one night, they probably had someone else staying there try to extend for a night so they just cancelled our reservation and made room for them.||While I cannot provide any review of the establishment itself, I can say that a reservation here means nothing. And even if the lodge itself is totally fine, I would refuse to give my business to an unethical owner and just want anyone reading this to be aware in case they would rather not support an unethical...
Read moreThis is by far one of the best low priced place that I have ever stayed at and i really like its name! The place is very cozy,,the owner is very friendly and helpful, it is super clean, very safe and within a close walking distance to where you want to go socialize or for the main tourist location set up! My room had a shower, TV, refrigerator, and even a safe to store important items. The lobby area is really cozy and confortable and there are various beverage items you can purchase,as well. Tou also have kitchen access if you want to cook something for yourself! I would definitely recommend this place because it is a real steal for...
