Quick access to the beach and my bungalow was apparently "beach front" but this was not the case. The description needs to be amended on the booking site. Motel signage was confusing and needed to be updated as it is different to what is on the booking site. I was a bit surprised when none of the locals and tour operators even knew this motel existed on such a small island. Housekeeping staff were a bit pushy. Floral arrangements were a nice touch. Great sunset from the beach but only got to witness one as it was overcast and raining for most of my stay. Location is decent and not far from the airport at all so don't bother booking a shuttle for a 5 minute drive at a charge of NZD20.00 one way whereas the public bus would only cost you NZD5.00 one way or you may already have your rental vehicle booked. It's also very close to town and you could possibly walk if it was a sunny day and you wanted to get some exercise in. One of the motel staff was super friendly, helpful and welcoming. She was very kind to help me with my luggage when I was going to the bus stop. Wi-Fi isn't included and is at the cost of the guest via Vodafone (in town). Once you do buy a Wi-Fi pass the actual coverage is very patchy at the motel. It would take a lot for me to stay here again long-term so hopefully the much needed upgrade will be in the...

Read moreThis place was almost as bad as the Black Rock destination. Before relocating to a new hotel, my family and I stayed here for 3 nights. Each night seemed to be worst than the last. On the first night, a rat was running wild all around the room, until I finally was able to catch it. On the second night, the room FLOODED. We had to be evacuated to another room, where there wasn't supposed to be any more problems. By now, I had had enough, and decided this was our last night at the Reef Motel. I couldn't believe how poorly the place was designed. Biggest waste of time since the Black Rock tourist...
