It was midday and we were wanting “the best coffee in Montezuma” and found Hábitat. Located just up the road from downtown Montezuma, the vibes, views, and food are the best we’ve had in any restaurant in Costa Rica. The staff and chef are some of the kindest people we’ve encountered. 100000/10 experience. We had the locally caught tuna with fresh vegetables and an incredible pineapple sauce, the beer battered fish tacos with grilled pineapple and avocado, and the coconut iced coffee that is made with coconut milk the chef sources from a local family who makes it fresh! We happened to catch the chef when he was nearby, but I think it’s typically by reservation.

The restaurant is located on the Chorotega hotel property and (at the time, January 2025) there are no signs for Hábitat at the entrance to the hotel. Just ring the bell and they will let you in! Follow the signs to the reception and you’ll be greeted with an amazing view to enjoy some seriously incredible, locally...

Exceptional service, food and hospitality!! My friends and I came here on a whim for dinner after an ATV ride and owner Carlos made us feel right at home. The food was immaculate - the best fish taco I’ve ever had and most fresh salad with a light honey dressing. All the food is fresh and local and received in the morning. Carlos also gave us a yummy and sweet carrot cake for dessert.

If you come here, you MUST get the coffee with coconut milk. It is some of the best drink and flavor I’ve ever had and I didn’t want the drink to end. We enjoyed conversation with Carlos as well. 10/10 experience and would...

Wow Great food. The Fish Taco is the best it is a massive Taco made with tuna you'll have to eat half of the fish before you able to fold it until taco . I just loved it can't say it enough about it best meal I've had in Costa Rica so far. The salad was so good. Mixed greens with carrot tomato cucumber with a wonderful honey mustard dressing very refreshing. The fruit drinks are so good. I had the coconut passion fruit drink. Service was friendly very attentive. I would drive a few hours to eat here. I definitely have to go back and get another taco or two before my week...

The best in the area! Habitat is amazing! It’s only been open a few months but don’t let that fool you! The owners are so friendly and really go above and beyond to make your experience enjoyable. Not to mention the food is insanely good! Everything was really fresh and well-presented. I ordered the spring rolls which were out of this world, and when they had sold out of fish tacos they brought me a little side of grilled snapper to taste on the house. Hospitable, excellent service, and fair prices. Abigail and Carlos will go very far. Open till 3pm. Go early for the fish tacos!

The owner & cook, Juan Carlos, is the most welcoming and nicest guy. All the dishes are colorful and look delicious. We got the fish tacos and it was the best meal I had so far in Costa Rica. We also had a chocolate milk shake (we shared it because it was big) that was delicious and some banana breads to take out for our breakfast the next day. Juan Carlo even treated us with some carrot cake (his Mum recipe 🥰) that was amazing as well. In summary? This place is a little gem 💎!!! Thank you for everything Juan Carlo, we hope to come back one day ! 🤞🏼
