My wife and I visited Santa Teresa in late-November and stayed at the Mint Hotel for 4 nights. What an amazing place! I can’t say enough great things about our stay here but I’ll try. The owners, Jonas and Johanna, are about the loveliest couple you could ever meet. Upon checking in, they welcomed us, gave us a tour of the place, helped us get situated, and told us to ask them for any help or suggestions - which we did and they were always so helpful!||The hotel itself is beautiful. The common area (they told us to think of it as our living room) is a large open but covered space where you can lounge, relax, sip cocktails, look at the amazing views, or take a dip in the pool. There are just 5 rooms in this hotel. We booked one of the ‘Deluxe Double Rooms’ which are a bit higher up providing a better view of the ocean. The rooms are setup beautifully with a modern minimalist design and plenty of space, electrical outlets, fridge, basically everything you need. Each room also has its own private deck directly above the room and we loved hanging out up there with a glass of wine and watching the ocean and nature around us.||Each morning, Johanna prepared the most wonderful breakfast for us with eggs, homemade breads and jams, fruits, veggies, yogurt, granola, and plenty of coffee! It was the most delicious ever, and a perfect and healthy way to start our days. And Jonas made us some of the best spicy margaritas we’ve ever had.||Jonas and Johanna were the most gracious hosts, and gave great suggestions around where to go, what to do, and helped us arrange things like taxi rides, ATV rentals, etc. It was so nice chatting with them throughout our stay.||We can’t wait to go back. If you’re thinking about visiting Santa Teresa, please do yourself a favor and look into Mint Hotel - you will...
Read moreThis was one of the best experiences I have ever had traveling. The hotel is absolutely stunning and serves as a perfect quiet retreat tucked back from the busy main road of Santa Teresa perched up on a hill with a breath taking ocean view that never got old. We loved how intimate the hotel was with only 5 rooms. It was the perfect combination of private but also allowed for us to meet some lovely fellow travelers hanging out in the beautiful and inviting communal space which included the infinity pool, lounge chairs, dining table, bar, couch and bocce court. ||Our room was beautifully minimally designed with a great mix of natural materials that emphasized the view of the ocean. The AC unit worked well and we particularly enjoyed the shower where you can slide open a door to create an indoor/outdoor experience. The private rooftop above our room had two chairs and a hammock. ||The breakfast that was included was beautifully put together and included fresh fruit, homemade granola, banana bread and zucchini rolls with soft boiled eggs, veggies, yogurt, and condiments to create a spread that anyone would enjoy. ||To top it all off the owners are incredible people who enhanced our experience. They were so friendly and helpful in booking our excursions, providing recommendations, and even helped us order food to be delivered when we arrived in the middle of a cyclone after a 5 hour car ride. We highly recommend booking the surf lessons, ATV, and horseback riding through them. ||We enjoyed ending each night chatting at the bar, drinking homemade ginger ale and listening to the perfectly curated playlist that is always on in the background. ||The best place to stay in...
Read moreIt pains me to not give Mint a 5 star review, but unfortunately expectations did not live up to reality. Yes, the hotel is beautiful but we found it to be lacking simple amenities. We stayed in the deluxe pool room as it was the only room available at the time, and I’d recommend opting for one of the cheaper rooms, if available. Our view was obstructed by a tree, when the other 4 rooms have a nicer view. The plunge pool is cute but in the shade most of the day so it was cold and had many leaves and bugs in it. The doors and windows lacked weather stripping causing large gaps that allow critters and insects access to the room. Our hot water did not work at all during our stay. The bed was flat and uncomfortable with small pillows and only a single sheet. We asked reception if we could have a blanket and he told us they didn’t have one at that time and we’d have to check again in the evening when the owner returns. The toilet seat was the wrong size for the bowl and fastened incorrectly allowing it to slide around. The hill to the hotel is very steep and gets quite slick when it rains. I’d recommend a 4x4 and perhaps the hotel add that detail to their FAQ. The breakfast is nice, but simple containing fruit, yogurt and hard boiled eggs (and the same each day). When checking out we were not asked how our visit was nor thanked for staying…I understand that sounds petty, but with so many reviews claiming the hosts are warm and welcoming, we did not experience the same...
