Las Casitas de Playa Negra — Hotel in Cahuita

BROKEN AND WORN DOWN||This place is worn down and run by dishonest people, living off of old reviews from when the place was new.||The shower was broken and dripping the day we arrived, the next day the thermostat came out of the wall and there was water coming straight out from the pipes in the wall.||NOT just a little bit, it came flushing out from the Wall!.||They tried to put us in another room that they had supposedly cleaned the same day.||The room was filthy, unhealthy and broken everywhere!.||The screendoor and the screens on the windows couldn't close all the way, there were big holes in the nets, bugs and spiderwebs in the corners, trails of ants on the Wall crawling from the outside and in.||It smelled really bad.||We were told that it was from whatever they had usted to clean the place?, but it was more like stuffy and old.||||IT WAS UNHEALTHY!!.||The kitchen was unhealthy - the whole rubber rim on the inside of the fridge was filled with fungus mold, ants crawling on the kitchen counter.||The 2 couches were also broken, if you sat down in them you were sitting directly on the springs.||We demanded to check out right away!!, but that wasn’t easy either.||Finally after like 30 - 45mins. Of explaining we got to check out.||I got charged 95 dollars for the 2 days.||Actually we only stayed there one night!, but Shawanda at the place said "that since they couldn't rent the room out because the time was 7pm, then we had to pay for 2 nights".||Which we wasn't happy about cause really it didn't have anything to do with the time?, We took pictures and video of everything.||We are deply disapointed and unhappy, i would never in my life recommend this place to anybody else.||We left at 7pm and were lucky enough to find a nice place just around the corner, were we stayed the remainding time of out trip.||||BUT OUR TROUBLES WITH THIS PLACE WASN'T DONE YET!!.||On October 4th i got charged an additionally 329,51 Dollars!?.||Which i was NOT supposed to pay, not even if we had stayed there the time we had planned from the beginning.||Originally we were supposed to stay there for 8 days, and the second charge was even more than if we had stayed there for 8 days + we had paid for 2 days already even though we had stayed there 1 night.||Then we had to battle with “booking.com” to prove that they had STOLEN our money.||Which we did, cause we had received an email the first day, that our booking had been cancelled ( a sign that they tried to hustle booking.com for the booking fee), + we had a receipt from the check out, even though they claimed that we never checked out.||The whole process of getting our money back took...

I have never received such terrible hospitality. I had booked a full week at this place and could not have been more disappointed with the outcome. ||What happened was we had a huge day of travel on the day we were meant to arrive for our first night of the booking. Unfortunately we missed the last bus from San José to Puerto viejo and had to stay the night in the city. I had been in extensive communication with the owners via WhatsApp and phone calls explaining the situation and stated continuously that we did NOT want to cancel the booking and that we were still happy to pay for the night we couldn't make as we understand how businesses are run ect. And we would be arriving the following morning. All was well ....||Later that same night they rang me at around 10.30pm (rude) and explained to me that THEY had cancelled my booking? I'm speechless I cannot comprehend why after I had just spoken so thoroughly with them earlier that evening. Turns out in the time they had cancelled our booking someone had booked the apartment so now there is a double booking for a night in the middle of our stay. They offered to put us up in a completely different property in a hostel. Obviously the answer is no, this is not what we want on our holiday. I was annoyed as I couldn't understand why he would cancel in the first place so I just said it was fine and we would find somewhere else to stay, they're loss. ||Everything ended on nice terms.||A week later I check my bank account and I've been charged $123???? by the property. I'm sorry but what the actual heck!? ||First YOU cancel my booking, YOU double book the apartment and then YOU charge my credit card? ||I went through all policies and nothing states that they can charge me anything whatsoever as I am not the one to blame for the situation. I've messaged the property and no reply so far. I've been in contact with booking.com and will take this further if it is not resolved as it is theft. ||I have never been so disappointed, honestly what a way to be completely unprofessional and quite frankly...

The location is good. Walking distance to the beach and city center. Atmosphere is nice with a garden and surrounded by nature. We were only with two persons, so the appartment was spacious for us. Kitchen equipment is quite complete. Everything is somewhat outdated inside the appartment, but every works fine.

The problem is the owners, like stated in several reviews already here and also on booking.com, the guy is rude. We rented bikes one day and parked them in the garden somewhere on the side. Apparently they were in the way, so the owner just shoved them to the ground in the middle of the walking path. Other hotel guests had to notify us about our bikes lying in the middle of the path. Our appartment is right above the appartment where the owners live (we were in appartment #5, other guests have also confirmed noise about #5 on booking.com). There are no windows so you can hear everything. The owners were watching TV with the volume quite high intill 5 am in the morning on 1 night. On our last night they started to watch a movie around 11:30 pm and they were laughing really loud and talking loudly to each other about what's going on in the movie. We stayed 4 nights. Never once did they clean the appartment. Nobody will empty the trash that was piled up for days and indeed no refill of...
