La Macadamia - Monteverde — Hotel in Monteverde

The villa was even nicer than the photos! Check in was absolutely seamless by corresponding directly on What's app with the property manager, Guillermo. They use codes for the main gate and the front door of the villa. All the kitchen equipment you need and the washer/dryer made the stay absolutely wonderful. AC units in both bedrooms as well as one in the main area. Our kids LOVED the trampoline outside our villa (Villa #5 has a bigger trampoline than some other ones) and the gated compound allowed them to go and explore on their own. You can see the low-hanging clouds drift through the compound, so cool. Sat outside under the covered patio during rain storms. Anything we needed, Ana and Guillermo were there instantly. 5 minute drive into Sta Elena which has everything you need including supermarkets, coffee shops, restaurants, souvenirs, pharmacy and 24 hr clinic (which we needed unfortunately after a mishap). Overall we were disappointed in this place after reading all the good reviews.

PROS: good private location, fairly close to the nearby town (by car), has a security gate at the entrance

CONS: the room we had seemed like no one had been in it for months as there were a lot of dead bugs everywhere and overall didn't feel very clean. I understand it's low season but it would've been appropriate if they cleaned it one more time more recently. There were also a ton of different live insects/spiders that surprised us throughout the evening. Although it's somewhat understandable since it's in the middle of the rainforest, it was still significantly more than the other 5 places we stayed at while we were in Costa Rica which made it very unenjoyable. A perfect, spacious house with a beautiful garden in a totally quiet neighbourhood all to ourselves - it could not get any better!

The villa comes with a full kitchen, a modern bathroom and plenty of details that are useful. There are 6 villas, each with a big private garden and a lot of nature around them. We spotted birds and smaller animals and even a wildcat in or next to our garden.

Our host Guillermo was fantastic! He is such a kind soul and helped us with everything, always a big smile on his face. The hospitality and assistance he provided goes far beyond what one could expect. Thank you, Guillermo, we are happy to have met you and miss you! Hope to come...
