Had 2 beds in a six bed dorm room with an en suite. Each bed has a night light but no curtains. There is a shared power strip for each bunk. They do not provide towels. The en suite bathroom was mostly clean, as was the dorm room. €5 breakfast is not worth it. No hand soap in the bathroom. It's a noisy hostel but the quiet hours were respected. The location is decent with a bakery and a grocery store in the parking lot. The old town and attractions is a straight shot, 30 min walk. The hostel is attached to a CBD shop where you can hotbox tobacco and CBD with teenagers, I guess.

We went to use the kitchen in the morning around 9 and it was filthy, disgusting from dinner the night before. Dirty dishes, tables, and counter tops. Food sitting out, full trash can, sticky floor. No kettle for tea or coffee. It was really bad, even for a hostel.

Over the course of the night I woke up several times to a woman in my room smoking cigarettes. No one was at the front desk so I let the staff know in the morning. The worker caught the lady smoking in the room and, I assume, nothing was done about it. The lady was permitted to stay in the dorm and continued to smoke cigarettes. She let me know it was only a €20 fine, which at that price point, is not a fine but instead just an additional fee that allows you to smoke in your room.

I have worked in hospitality/hotels/hostels for 15 years... If someone smokes in a nonsmoking room, you fine then and kick them out. Especially if it's a shared dorm.

In Croatia, the Law on Limiting the Use of Tobacco and Related Products, Article 25, "prohibits the smoking of tobacco and related products, herbal products and the use of electronic cigarettes with or without nicotine filling and water pipes in all enclosed public spaces"

Over all, terrible management and awful enforcement of rules and laws.

I do not recommend this hostel. I will also be posting a review on Hostelworld.com and contacting Hostel World about the smoking policy of this hostel.

The beds and pillows were rather...

perhaps we were spoiled by our previous hostels and our opinion is probably completely subjective and a little irrational, but we felt uncomfortable here the second we stepped into the hostel.

it’s impossible to pinpoint anything specific but it was a mixture of the slightly rundown building, the dirty parts of the bathroom, bad circulation and smell on the toilet and in the corridors and the fact that it didn’t have that air of being an intentional hostel? this might be difficult to explain, but all our previous hostels seemed to have been built and designed to house a lot of people and to have the purpose of being a hostel, but this one seemed like you were entering someone’s big flat that was remodeled into a makeshift hostel.

a good hostel gives you some semblance of privacy (curtains on the beds, spacious common rooms or just some place to retreat) and here you felt you were in the way all the time and rarely ever at peace.

the area it’s located in is really just not interesting at all and you have to take a tram for 15 min into the city, which was fine but inconvenient.

the upsides: we slept wonderfully here, comfortable beds and pillows, we saw multiple times how our floors and the kitchen were cleaned and the staff was generally nice and helpful, they’re not at all to blame for...

IF YOU PLAN ON STAYING HERE,  RECONSIDER YOUR DECISION!!!!!! We were greeted by a receptionist who wasn't able to speak croatian (she's obligated to be able to speak by law). She took us to the rooms where we noticed a lot of odd things: there weren't any towels in the bathroom, toilet was dirty, there was mould in a shower cabin. In one room, soap was dispersed over bathroom sink. Sheets were dirty and there were some with dirty spots on them. In the corridor there was an open closet with all the sheets for beds etc. Everything was dusty and unsanitary. In one room we found a plastic bottle cap. Also, in the corridor, there were some long-standing guests who had weird and uncomfortable vibe. The water was very unclean, too. When one of us had stayed here last time, they got a rash from sheets. An honorable mention: there were small holes in a wall in one of the rooms. They were literally little windows which couldn't be closed. Whose idea was this? We didn't stay until the breakfast, but I wouldn't recommend taking it based on our experience with the rest...

The hostel is located on the first and second floor of a big apartment building. There is a bakery around the corner and a small supermarket across the street. We were in the city the entire day so we didn't use the kitchen or lounges, but for sleeping it is a fine hostel for a good price. The beds were okay and the room was well-isolated, the only things were that the apartment wasn't the cleanest and there were old bloodstains on the bedsheets. Also, when we returned home one day the key card wasn't working and on another day the cleaning staff left the door open.

First things room have been very neat and very cleaned till my last stayed in this hostel. Beside that staff and volunteer had been very supportive, helpfulled all the time. Therefore, I extended my stayed 2 times first From 27 march to 30 and 2nd on 31 march and overall 2 weeks. It was a first time ever happened that i stayed more than 1 weeks during my travel journey. I will recommend everyone to must visit this hostel even 1 night if they are planning to visit in zagreb city :)
