You know something’s off when, during check-in, the receptionist suggests visiting the rooftop terrace, because it’s the only thing about the hotel worth mentioning.
After Zonar (ex-Panorama), Maistra has managed to “renovate” yet another mediocre Zagreb hotel into an even worse dysfunctional mess. Sure, it’s all very Instagrammable, but I seriously doubt the interior designers have ever spent a single night in any hotel room.
The location is already noisy enough, with constant traffic and tram vibrations every few minutes. But the designers decided to make things worse by replacing the bathroom walls with glass panels and laying down an industrial floor instead of carpeting, thereby effectively removing any structure that might absorb sound from neighboring rooms or the corridor.
The result? An extremely noisy room that literally shakes every few minutes and is impossible to sleep in.
And for some inexplicable reason, the bed (a regular one, not even a box spring) was hoisted up on a custom-made pedestal. I’m almost 2 m tall (about 6′7″), and even I struggled to climb into it, let alone sit comfortably.
If you want some nice pics for Instagram, sure, book a room here. But if you actually want a good night’s sleep,...
Read moreWe really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The breakfast was excellent – not a buffet, but a carefully prepared standard menu with rich options, probably thanks to a very skilled chef. The hotel was spotless, the design stylish yet simple with a beautiful white theme, and even some hidden travel symbols that added a special touch. The location is also perfect, only about 15 minutes’ walk to the bus station and close to many attractions.
Our room was on the fifth floor facing the street, and the view was truly beautiful. Many details in the room were thoughtfully designed – for example, the mirror placed on the door made the room look much more spacious, and the bathroom area was arranged in a very clever way, creating a wide and comfortable space. Overall, the design was truly impressive.
The staff were always warm and friendly, which made us feel genuinely welcome. Special thanks to the lady who welcomed us on our arrival and kindly helped us with our situation – we really appreciated her support.
If we return to Zagreb, we will definitely stay here again. Thanks to all the staff for making our stay...

Later, the hotel contacted me saying they had finally located my reservation, but they refused to process a cancellation or refund. This experience was unacceptable and caused me...
