Nice green park with a lot of trees and paths. Located in the center of town. The only problems with this park are excessive littering and graffiti on benches and rubbish cans. It all needs to be solved by implementing park rangers and security guards who penalized who ever is caught littering or doing graffiti without permission. It’s vandalism what tells why it’s very illegal. People also don’t clean up after their dogs which is not good👎. It smells bad, looks gross and there is a risk of kids stepping in it, yuck🤮! Too many cigarette butts thrown on the ground not in the ashtray☹️. If smokers don’t start disposing the cigarettes in the ashtray, smoking will be banned in this park🚭, I swear to God. Since there are only some dogs kept on a leash, most of them are walking loose which I don’t like since it can pose a safety hazard and it really bothers me seeing it😫😫😫😫😫. I can’t believe that something like this is just seen in Croatia, not in other European countries😭😢🤦♂️. Balkan behavior needs to stop right away, no more! If it doesn’t get solved, encouragement banner will come up. All dog owners in Croatia need to change their habits and get use to the new rules. I’m sorry, but that’s how it is. Even in the United States a lot of pets are kept on a leash(except for designated areas where dogs can walk or run without a leash). One of these problems need to be solved by putting surveillance cameras and/or park rangers. If none of these problems get solved, I’m out of this country ❌. All these new rules don’t just apply to this park, but to all other parks in all of Croatia. The new rubbish cans should have separate compartments for paper, plastic and metal, glass and organic waste so that more waste could be recycled rather than disposed in a...
Read moreA very old, charming and elegant park in the city centre. In the old ages it used to be owned by the Church and it used to be a fish pond, hence the present name. Since then, the water source dried up due to the city expansion, at some point a conversion to the park took place, then the Church gave the property up because the Communists asked them nicely, and now it's a little, often overlooked, public jewel of the downtown Zagreb. As a reminder of the old days, the Cathedral is still dominating the scenery and the fortification that used to protect it in the latter Middle Ages leans on the west edge of the park.
Other than that, the place offers relaxation and refreshment in terms of strolling across the winding pathways and bridges, taking a break on benches and meadows and drinking water from the fountain in the middle. There's a kiddie section next to the fountain, with slides, teeters and swings. There's a house at the opposite side, a sort of a public cultural centre. A very popular night bar used to be in there as well, but after a murder case the authorities put an end to it. Some art events can take place around the park ocassionaly. No one dies.
The park is being taken care of as well as it can be by the official maintenance, but most of the trees are pretty old now and, thanks to the busy and polluted street the park leans on, are not in the healthiest of shapes. They've been known to fall over during severe thunderstorms, so avoid the park during such ocurrences. The police almost never patrols through there so it's a good spot for having a quiet drinking party at night with a couple of buddies. Just don't be loud and don't harrass the dog walkers and the joggers,...
Read morea mini forest in the center of town. very popular to come to chill out whenever. the background noise is mostly music from the kids music school that is located in a cultural centre at dead center of the park. sometimes its a quire practice by "Kids from Ribnjak", so you can really imagine how one might daydream here for a minute or so :) p.s. there's a stream and a few places that create ponds and what before were mini lakes to grow fish at. the name comes from that, as "ribnjak" is literally a "fish...
