We stayed at this hostel for one night. The building is quite large, with four floors — it looks like it might have once been a university dormitory or something similar. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. On the ground floor, there's a café where you can get a quick bite. It has a nostalgic Soviet-style vibe 😁. There are also two vending machines: one with coffee and the other with snacks (chocolates, cookies, chips). The hostel has a sports area where you can play table tennis, chess, or basketball, and there are also pull-up bars for exercising. The location is excellent — about 10 minutes from the public beach and 20 minutes from the city center. There's a park nearby, though it seemed to be under renovation at the time of our stay, so access was restricted. Parking is available, but for a hostel of this size, the number of spots is quite limited. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The air conditioning worked well, and we had a beautiful sea view from our window. There was no TV in the room, which might matter to some guests. Breakfast was included, served in a cafeteria located in a neighboring building. Unfortunately, the experience there was disappointing. The staff were quite loud, shouting across the room at each other. The hot food options included boiled eggs, sausages (which were barely edible), and bacon (locally known as "slanina"). The vegetables were unripe, and the coffee was undrinkable. The water for tea was lukewarm, making it hard to brew a proper cup. Pancakes were supposed to be available as a dessert, but we were told they had run out — even though breakfast service was scheduled to continue for another hour and a half. The hostel itself can be noisy, especially with many young guests. At one point, I even saw someone working out on the pull-up bars with a cigarette in his mouth 😁. Overall, the hostel has a lot of potential thanks to its location and facilities, but some areas — especially breakfast and noise levels — could definitely...
Read moreThe hostel is used as a dormitory but in summer time it is open for tourists. The room for two with our own bathroom we had was good. Clean, all in order, balcony, comfortable beds, and good workplaces if someone needs to work from time to time:) One can buy breakfast, lunch and dinner without prepayment. Just pay for it when it suits you. We stayed in the hostel for 5 days, and didn't miss even one breakfast. From time to time we had lunch and dinner as well. The meal was great all the time. We really enjoyed the well cooked steaks, vegetables, eggs, different kinds, salami, and of course, bakery - croissants and cakes. The cooks are happy to serve food to you, sometimes they're singing while serving the food. There was a very good ambiance all the time we were there. The separate thanks a million to the staff at the reception - very friendly and helpful regardless what problem/question you come with. They always try their best to help you. A special thanks to Maria, who took care of us as we were the dearest guests in the world:) The hostel location is very good if you are aiming at swimming, and you are rather happy to walk to the beaches on foot through the great national park Marjan. Shadow, many benches, water taps, trees, plants, wide asphalt roads for only pedestrians and bicyclists. There are also some trails with ground cover for those who like it. The path is about 1.5 km long. During walking you can choose the beach you'd like more. I'd recommend the beach just before Bene. And, probably, the most famous one, Kasjuni. If you want to reach the city center, there is no problem at all. There's a bus stop, just right around the corner, where you can get to the city center from. 60 mins trip...
Read moreIf you're looking for the bare necessities, great prices and super friendly staff, this is a great place to stay. It's one of the nicest hostels I've ever been in. There are separate rooms with private bathrooms or shared bathrooms, cleaning service each morning (except weekends), AC in some rooms (but their AC isn't quite like Canada or the USA's. It's more like a fan that blows slightly less warm air on you rather than cold air. It's better to just sleep with both balcony doors wide open) and a 2 min walk to a marina which loads of locals and most everyone from the hostel goes and swims at. We went in July and the Cicadas were in full force (quite loud when sleeping with the doors open) so maybe bring some ear plugs if you aren't used to that because the courtyard has a fair number of trees with those little bugs in them and when they are all chirping at the same time it gets loud. This Hostel is basically a student dorm but it wasn't super loud or party crazy. The students kept the partying down so others could sleep and the cafeteria serves decent food for decent prices. Only issue is that depending on where you mostly want to explore, this hostel is a little out of the way. It's kinda tucked into a corner of Split BUT the #17 bus starts its route directly outside the hostel and it will take you most places you want to go (or get you close). || We mostly got help from a receptionist named MIA. She was fantastic, helpful, knowledgeable about the area and will be patient with you if you want to learn some Croatian. We also got help from DENNIS who was equally amazing...
