It’s a very special place and felt like entering a community rather than a commercial hostel. I loved the terrace, the hostel cats and the kitchen :))
However please don’t stay there more than a night or two if you feel the need for a bit of personal space, quietness and privacy. The hostel is very small, so it feels a little bit like being in the way everywhere (kitchen, reception, “common area” is all squeezed into a tiny space). Only one bathroom (with one sink, two showers and one toilet) for all women wasn’t really enough in my opinion. It’s not possible to lock the bathroom (only the toilet cabin) so it’s hard to get changed anywhere when there’s 10 other people in your dorm. The whole hostel and the rooms aren’t locked either but you get a spacious locker to store your stuff. The volunteers working there + the manager!! are also staying in the main rooms, regularly walking in and out to grab bed sheets from the closet, sometimes loudly discussing their work conflicts. Somehow it felt very uncomfortable taking a rest in there for some time during the day, when I was exhausted of being outside.
The cleaning could have been a bit better but that’s normal for a hostel run by volunteers and I think that’s ok!
Everyone was nice and it’s easy to get to know people there, but in my experience everyone there was rather in their late twenties and it was hard for me to connect to them as a 19 year old.
Regarding the location, it’s like 20min to the closest beach and to the city centre, directly around the hostel are rather ugly apartment buildings, a school and a big construction at the moment.
Overall I think it can be a very fun experience to stay in this hostel, but it’s important to know it’s very simple for 20€ per night and...
Read moreFortunately we only stayed here for one night!! On arrival we were greeted with a cat at check in. We were then given keys, which we didn’t need as the locks didn’t even work. To top it all off, the manager or supervisor of the hostel came into our dorm (with 4 girls staying in it) several times without knocking, while we were in bed or sleeping late at night. We expected it to be a basic hostel, which it was, but what we didn’t expect was a total lack of privacy and a feeling of unease as we slept that night.
Edit in response to the owner:
First off we were never informed at check in that our door couldn’t be locked, we discovered that the keys wouldn’t work ourselves when trying to lock our door for our own safety. In my other, MANY, stays in hostels I have found that having a door that locks is BARE MINIMUM. This old man came into our room firstly at around 8:00pm and said he was “checking repairs” which he didn’t do, then at around 10:30pm to take our AC remote and then again at 2:30am to return the AC remote. If the issue with the AC and having a shared remote was explained to us we actually would’ve preferred to have none, than having someone wake us up at all hours of the morning coming in and out of our room. The door was broken so the noise of it opening woke us up anyway, so knocking would’ve at least warned us if we were getting changed at all and wouldn’t have left us disturbed to wake up to a strange man in the room.I don’t know what hostels you’ve been staying at but this is NOT normal. It is a complete invasion of privacy and made us feel extremely unsafe and we had to sleep with...
Read moreHorrible experience. We booked 3 beds and got 2 and the second one did not have even have sheets and a pillow. Overbooking money hungry hostel not caring about proper handling of services and checking in. 2 people had the same keys as us! including the locker and the door to our room) and they also did not have a bed to sleep in ( hence why they took one of ours). When we addressed this to her, literally now the clueless receptionist was laughing in front of our faces and did not care to consolidate us, and had the audacity to charge us for 2 beds and considered it “ a favor “ to us. She could not even admit that the hostel and basically her made the mistake !!! When we asked her to pay for 1.5 bed she did not even flinch , money over satisfaction and of travelers. Would never stay here again and would not recommended either. Better hostels in split that are not just money hungry and they give a...
