I travelled here at the end of March with my 10yo daughter and we stayed for 11 days on a half board basis. Upon checking in, I was asked for a €200/night deposit. I was a bit stunned by this since I had paid for half board, and challenged it. The deposit amount then reduced to €100/night, and I was told that this was the ‘policy’. I challenged it again and miraculously the ‘policy’ changed to a deposit amount of €500 total for the stay. Given that my final bill amounted to around €850, both the €100 and €200/night deposits would have left me out of pocket no doubt waiting several days for the refund to be processed. As it was, I received a note under my door on our last night, informing me that I could not charge any further purchases to the room since my deposit total had been reached. I’ve stayed in hotels of every class all over the world and this is the first time this has ever happened to me. It’s not what I expect from a supposedly 5 star resort, as were many of the experiences we encountered during our stay. On our first day we visited the main pool and my daughter made friends with some other girls. They were mid way through collecting ‘gems’ from the pool floor. The gems turned out to be loose tiles. Although admittedly it engaged them for several hours, in the end they had picked up more than 300 loose tiles from that pool floor. This was reported to the head of engineering, and admittedly the hotel seemed to take it seriously. The girls were given free ice cream and a €100 credit was applied to my bill for the shocking state of the pool. We elected not to return to that pool after the second day when my daughter and another girl around the same age developed sore blisters on their fingertips and toes which closely resembled chemical burns. Again this was reported to hotel management who arranged for us to see a doctor at their expense. Remarkably he claimed to have no idea what had caused the blisters, and stated he had never seen such a reaction before, yet simultaneously was adamant that it was not caused by the pool. The blisters healed on their own quite quickly after we used only the saltwater pool or the ocean. The cost of food and drinks at this hotel verges on theft. I was charged €27 for a 8” salami pizza on that first day. Another guest informed me that the pool service at the main pool was charging people full prices for what was actually the kids pizza. With this information I was again able to challenge the charge and a manager removed the cost entirely from my bill. I was starting to become concerned that things were not as I expected them to be from such a luxury Marriott property. The half board booking entitled us to eat from the main hotel restaurant (Lanes) or we could use a daily combined allowance of €58 at any of the other restaurants. One of my main reasons for choosing this hotel over the others was the choice of 6 different restaurants. 3 of these remained closed during our stay which was a massive disappointment. The French restaurant was open along with the Gallery which serves Asian inspired food. The daily allowance was barely enough to cover appetisers in both these restaurants and I would urge anyone booking on this basis to note that even with the allowance, you are going to be spending upwards of €50/couple for a decent meal with drinks. Given the location of the hotel, alternatives in the local vicinity are not really available, so the hotel essentially has a captive audience with little option but to eat at the hotel. Lanes itself went from a la carte to buffet style multiple times during our stay, it seems based on occupancy. The food itself at all the restaurants is pretty good and the Gallery and French restaurants are really outstanding with quality and service. The same cannot be said of Lanes. Service is abysmal at best. Staff are not remotely attentive and ignore people until they are called upon. My biggest complaint relates to the poor handling of my daughter’s peanut and tree nut allergy, of which the hotel was advised about in advance...
Read moreWe stayed at the Parklane Hotel June 1 - 8, 2023, in Suite 612. The property, suite and staff are all top-notch - and definitely five-star. If you’re staying in southern Cyprus, especially near Limassol or Larnaca, this hotel highly recommended.
SUITE: Our one-bedroom suite was amazing! Although the property calls it a suite, we referred to it as a two-level villa. The villas surround the northern portion of the property as you enter the gates from the main road. The suites consist of a private entry, living room, dining room, lighted marble staircase, two full bathrooms, dressing room, bedroom, private pool and outdoor area. The multitude of glass doors and windows allow for lots of natural light and are electronically controlled via multiple touchscreens - allowing for the exterior metal shades to be closed for complete darkness/privacy. The same touchscreens offer multiple lighting levels in each room. The living room consists of two sofas, a large center table, and a large flat screen TV with many English-speaking channels. There’s also a work desk and a dining room table for four on the first floor, along with a wall of glass cabinets containing various glassware and an honor bar. The downstairs bathroom makes it easy for everyone staying in the suite, considering it has a large shower with multiple waterspouts and plenty of space for the sink and toilet. The master bedroom is spacious, with a king bed, large flat-screen TV, sitting area, and private balcony overlooking the private outdoor space below. The main bathroom is also very accommodating with a large bathtub, double vanity and shower. All personal bath products are Bulgari. A spacious dressing room allows all your clothes to be hung and laid out, and even hosts another work desk/vanity. Outside is a private oasis, comprised of a private pool (a spectacular touch), outdoor shower, three lounge chairs, dining table for four, towels and meticulous landscaping.
LOBBY: The lobby is extremely inviting with fresh floral arrangements throughout.
GROUNDS: The property is sprawling, and very well kept. Wi-Fi was super fast throughout. The flowers, shrubs and trees really make it a beautiful place. There are several fountains on the property as well, including one at the main entrance with a multitude of water jets providing a show.
FRONT DESK: The front desk staff is knowledgeable and helpful. We were particularly impressed by the help and assistance provided by Maria.
CONCIERGE: At the concierge desk, Marina was very helpful, friendly and attentive during our stay. She called and made dinner reservations for us at two local restaurants.
BREAKFAST: The breakfast buffet is to die for! There’s an omelette/egg station where things are made-to-order. Traditional breakfast items are available plus cheese, sliced meats, a variety of breads and a neat ‘health corner’ that contains nuts, dried fruits and seeds. Coffee is served by the staff at your outdoor table. This part of our stay was certainly A+++!
POOLS: The property has three outdoor pools, one which is for adults-only. There’s also an in-door pool near the gym. There are plenty of cushioned, adjustable lounge chairs with umbrellas available, and each comes with a towel. The pools are crystal clear, comfortably cool and clean. The staff comes around and helps with chairs, and also takes drink and food orders.
GYM: Plenty of equipment allows you a decent workout while on vacation. There are personal training and fitness classes as well, but we didn’t sign up for them.
RESTAURANTS/BARS: Nammos was by far our favorite, with a friendly bar staff. The food at Nammos is good, but we found it to be a bit pricey. But the entire space is Instagram-worthy!
SURROUNDING AREA: The Parklane is about 20 minutes by taxi from downtown Limassol. If you prefer to walk, there’s a path that runs along the sea. It took us about 20 minutes to get to the path from the hotel. The views of the city are great from the pathway. Once downtown, there’s plenty to do. The Limassol Marina is a...
Read moreThis is a beautiful hotel and the staff could not be more helpful.||The good points - beautiful public areas, beautiful swimming pools, beautiful King bed sea view superior guest room with balcony.||There are at least 5 restaurants- the food, cocktails and wines are superb and the service is first class. ||There are several designer shops and some other lovely shops - to look in and buy!||There is a great Spa with lovely beauty rooms, great beauticians and really good prices. Not overpriced at all.||The concierges and reception staff could not be more helpful and professional. ||The bad points - extremely noisy loud music in the Nammos restaurant, which did not stop until after 11pm and which kept us awake. When you are on holiday you need peace and quiet not loud, noisy music drowning out any kind of conversation and disturbing one’s sleep.||The carpet in our luxury room was dirty and marked with stains. It needs a really good steam clean. The carpet in the corridor was also dirty. I had to point out to a supervisor that the carpet in the corridor needed to be hoovered as there was debris.||Whilst the cleaning of the room was good, the housekeeping was very slap dash. For two days we had no face flannels and tonight our bath towels and hand towels had not been changed. But on a positive note within 2-3 minutes of me ringing down, housekeeping sent a member of staff to our room with clean towels and she took away all the wet towels from the bathroom.||However the worst thing of all was the lack of cleaners in the public areas and round the swimming pools . On our first day the ladies toilets near La Petite Mason restaurant were left filthy dirty. Despite reporting this to two members of staff, at 3.30pm and 5.30pm they still filthy dirty at 6.15pm when a manager said he would ensure that housekeeping attended to the problem.||I would not expect such unhygienic conditions anywhere and certainly not in a 5 star hotel.||No-one explained how things in our room worked nor was there a list of telephone numbers to reach the concierge, reception or housekeeping or make an internal call.||The porter who brought our luggage should have explained how everything worked and how to make an internal call.||One more thing which should be corrected is the fact that upon checking in, the receptionist said she would block my card for 2000 Euros but what she actually did was take 2000 Euros from my card - these were for any extras during our stay. ||I had booked and paid for 4 superior sea view rooms many months before so I could see no reason to take the money upfront, with the promise of crediting my card if there was any money left.||When I needed to extend the booking of two of the rooms I was made to pay an additional 1200 Euros upfront (not at the end of our visit) even though there was over 800 Euros still not spent out of the 2000 Euros the hotel had already taken from my card.||I understand it is standard practice for hotels to take an imprint of one’s card so that they are not left out of pocket if the visitor leaves owing money for extras. But I was not pleased to have 3200 euros taken out of my account to be told that if not all of this money was spent on extras they would credit my card, which would take 7-10 days to be returned to me.||Although this is a luxury hotel and the staff could not be more attentive and the restaurants, food and wine are excellent, it was not...
