We stayed at the Sea Life Hotel for four nights in October 2019 and we were very pleasantly surprised at just how lovely this hotel is and it really did exceed our expectations. ||||The hotel is located on a main road in Iskele which is around 45 minutes drive from Ercan Airport. We arranged a private transfer (Mercedes multi carrier) from the airport to the hotel with the agent we booked the hotel with, Go North Cyprus, at a cost of £50.00 for one way.||||We arrived at the hotel around 9.30am but, as check-in was at 2pm, we were unable to check-in straight away as the room wasn’t ready so we sat by the pool and in reception until the room was available at around 12.30pm.||||Our room was spacious, clean, bright and nicely decorated, overlooking the pool and with a sea view. The pool and outside area was nice and well-maintained. During our visit, there were very few people in and around the pool so we pretty much had it to ourselves :) There is a mini bar/fridge in the room but, just to note, there are no tea/coffee making facilities. ||||We were half board basis. The selection of dishes at both breakfast and dinner time was great, plenty of salad and always lots of cheese! :) Tea, coffee, fruit juices and water is included at breakfast time and for dinner, water is included. Any other drinks at dinner are chargeable. ||||With regards to facilities, our only requirement was the use of the gym. We did use the gym a couple of times but there wasn’t much equipment. Of the 3 or 4 treadmills, none were working and there are no other cardio machines nor any dumbbells or free weights. With a bit of imagination though and using what is available, it is possible to have a workout. ||||The area itself is fairly quiet but is perfectly located for the beach which is directly opposite Sea Life and can be accessed using a road crossing by turning left from the hotel and walking around 30 metres. (I mention this point because we were told, before we travelled, that the hotel was opposite the beach but because of the dual carriageway, the nearest crossing was 15 minutes walk away. Which we found to be untrue!) Along the beach is both a walking path and a cycle path which extends for several km’s along the coast and also a great play area and outdoor gym equipment. There are places along here to get a bite to eat or a fresh pomegranate juice and also a couple of restaurants too. The beach is beautiful and not too overcrowded, the sea is warm and shallow, perfect for paddling.||||Just outside of the hotel (turn left out of the hotel) is a Mardo cafe, for drinks, icecreams, desserts etc, next door to Funda Garden centre and just behind here is a bike rental shop. To the right of the hotel, after a few minutes walk is a supermarket, and a short walk from there, is Royal Street on a new partially built development which has a Mardo cafe, bar/restaurant, supermarket, hairdresser, pharmacy, fitness centre etc. There were leaflets in the room and reception with a map and directions to Royal Street.||||Public transport around the hotel is limited. There are no buses (dolmus) that stop nearby but the reception will arrange a taxi or for trips to Salamis Ruins and Famagusta, there is a shuttle bus which serves this hotel and other hotels in the area that is arranged by Reception. We took the shuttle and visited St. Barnabas’ monastery (well worth a visit,) which is approximately 2km walk from Salamis bus stop. The cost was 8TL/10TL each.||||All in all, we really enjoyed our stay here and would...
Read moreThis hotel is situated on the main duel carriageway road which can be heard in the rooms, is very near the beach but is out of walking distance to any of the local amenities. Long beach is on the other side of this road. We made our twin bedded booking through Booking.com and our paperwork showed that we had to pay on arrival. Upon checking in we were charged the correct total amount for our stay, however, the receptionist informed us that they had just noticed our request for twin beds and a room would be available in about an hour. We were offered a drink whilst we waited but this drink took that hour to arrive. I was then given a cash refund as the hotel had already taken one nights charge for the room from my credit card. ||Our room very basic and I found it very hard to open the front door as the screws that held the handle and lock was very loose and caught on the frame. The smoke detector in the bedroom was covered with its plastic cover that was supplied from the manufacturers hence it would not detect any smoke should a fire occur. The safe did not open but the receptionist could not repair and stated that it would be repaired later that day as we were not prepared to wait for the locksmith. We returned about 6 hours later but the safe was still not fixed. I informed reception ant the receptionist put in a master code and the safe opened immediately. The next morning I tried to have a shower but there was no hot water, so after a cold shower the room started to smell of sewerage. As I had an appointment I had to leave immediately. The next morning there was no hot water again and sewerage started to come out of the drain. My partner found nose excrement (not hers) near her feet on the sheet in the morning. I tried to go to reception to complain, however, on route I noticed that one fire exit was blocked with patio furniture and another could not be fully opened as it caught on the floor. I explained my concerned to reception and I was told that other people must of used all the hot water!!!I immediately checked out of this very poor hotel. The receptionist stated that he would tell the manager and that I did not have to pay the 8TL for the 2 sodas as a good will gesture for our stay!!!!!||The restaurant is more like a canteen of a basic standard and offers a limited...

Hotel was very clean good food if you chose to eat in the restaurant. Few downsides, housekeeping needs more training shower gels and shampoo not replenished regularly glasses washed in room not replaced by cleaners. We had to ask for kettle etc on arrival which we received straight away along with water, sugar teabags milk and cups and saucers although nothing was replaced cups and saucers were removed but not replaced. We were able to replace milk etc ourself from breakfast room. Good size pool and sun beds fresh towels for pool supplied from reception. Bathroom lacked any shelves for toiletries but was a good size and good water pressure in shower. Wardrobe space was small only 4 hangers and not deep 4 side shelves in wardrobe. Safe was in separate cupboard under wardrobe. Hotel on main road but no traffic noise in rooms, lovely quiet air conditioning in rooms. All in all 4 of us agreed that we would stay here again although there were a few things wrong nothing spoiled our holiday and anything we asked the staff for was sorted out very quick. You need to hire a car if staying in this part of Cyprus but we knew this from previous visits but the beaches and sires are...
