Location is on the outskirts of town, it was an easy 30 minute walk to the centre but a bus stop is nearby. ||Room size and equipment is adequate. The beds are much softer (and shorter) than in most hotels. Nice pillows however.||Our room was at the back, we discovered that the main railway line to/from Germany passes 100 metres away, trains run frequently through the day and night and the level crossing warning bell is a big minus factor. Room dividing walls are thin, it is possible to hear a conversation from next door. ||The hotel appears to cater mainly for elderly German guests, with a minority of Czechs. No staff seem to speak English. ||Breakfast buffet is adequate, but coffee is provided by waiting staff and no refills were offered.||Evening meal is waiter service. Portions are sized for elderly persons with small appetites, almost child portion size in fact. At one meal, a bread basket was provided for the table, but bread seems precious here as the waiter made two attempts to remove it during the meal, and finally succeeded when no one was looking. ||Afternoon coffee and cake is advertised at reception and on the hotel board outside, but when we asked for it we were told the kitchen had no chef in the mid afternoon so it was not possible. Does a waitress need a qualification in order to place cake on a plate I wonder?||Spa treatments in the basement were...
Read moreWe stayed 4 pre-booked nights...||On arriving we found various problems:||||1/ Poor location on back street surrounded by housing estate…publicity picture taken from special angle. General location some way from the Town Centre - although there is public transport not far away.||2/ Elevator noise/sound. Can be heard from most rooms on 1st floor, switched off from 22:00 until 07:00 but from that time no sleep possible unless you wear ear defenders.||3/ Smoking policy? Unusual, in that some public areas people can smoke?, including the 2 table bar area where smoke drifts into the restaurant area. Clothes and hair smell of smoke. The area outside is directly underneath some bedrooms whereby if you have patio/windows open again smoke drifts in.||4/ Garage and parking is a BIG issue and ‘Premium’||5/ No Wi-Fi beyond reception/bar/restaurant area.||6/ No bar service available on a Saturday after 7pm ‘Non’ was the reply when asking for a cool beer after being out all day?||I would like to be 'fair' and say the receptionist did her 'Best' for us. The food was of a very good standard and the waitress was very good.||However taking everything into account we would not stay again. There is plenty to...
Read moretakes the opportunity and makes the necessary changes to render this hotel more attractive ? ||Hotel Berlin changed the owner by July 1st and its actual name is Ferdinand.||It was visible that the hotel was somehow in the transition period - new management, new employees, new kitchen staff. However we felt a new spirit and fresh efforts.||We spent there 2 nights.||Hotel is situated in the quiet residential southeast outskirts of Marianske Lazne, right on the other side from the city center ( singing fountain). There is in principle nothing to do nor to see. The city centre can be reached either by trolley-bus or 25-30 min walk.||Small rooms, very basic equipment, ok beds at the moment. Very basic breakfast, but enough to start a day. Good and tasty 3 course dinner, selection of 3 meals.||Very limited selection of balneo procedures. No healing water procedures available.||Actual half board price given other circumstances is far too expensive.||I think the management will have to be very creative and invent something really attractive to stand a tough...
